126 <br /> <br /> Mr. Pezzoli responded that the Alternative Education <br />program planning subcommittee has been making progress, and <br />that regular classroom teachers have been added to the <br />committee as recommended by Council. <br /> <br /> Mr. Dunbar stated that the committee has been looking <br />at the individual needs of the Alternative Education <br />students. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe noted concern about personnel changes in <br />the Guidance.Department and Computer Operations at <br />Charlottesville High School. <br /> <br /> Dr. Vincent Cibbarelli, Superintendent of Schools, <br />stated that it was his understanding that at least one <br />change in personnel was for personal reasons. Dr. <br />Cibbarelli stressed the importance of having more than one <br /> <br />m nOWledgeab!e <br /> eeting was <br /> <br /> President ~----' <br /> <br />about the computer operations. <br />adjourned. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - May 16, 1988 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, <br />the minutes of the April 25th meeting were approved, with <br />Mr. Towe absent for the vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, <br />the minutes of the May 2nd meeting were approved, with Mr. <br />Towe absent for. the vote. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Lucius Bracey, Chairman of the Martha Jefferson <br />Hospital Board, commended the City for its handling of the <br />recent request by the Hospital for a special permit for <br />expansion and subsequent negotiations involving the Hospital <br />and surrounding neighborhood. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br /> Delegate Mitchell Van Yahres, from the State House of <br />Delegates, presented Council with a resolution passed by the <br />General Assembly commending the City on its 100th <br />anniversary of incorporation as a city. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: EXPANDING PERMIT PARKING (continued) <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix reviewed the area proposed to be included <br />in the permit parking zone. <br /> <br /> Lt. Col. Robert Canar, representing the employees of <br />the Foreign Science and Technology Center (FSTC), stated <br />that 52% of FSTC employees park on the street, many of whom <br />would park in commercial lots if they were available and <br />that 35% of FSTC employees carpool. Lt. Col. Canar stated <br />that FSTC was opposed to expanding permit parking, but would <br />be willing to work to find another solution to the parking <br />problem. <br /> <br /> <br />
