Edwards, Mr. Towe, Ms. Waters. <br />Absent: Mr. Vandever, <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters stated that the work session was being held <br />to bring all members of Council and the Planning Commission <br />up to a common level of understanding regarding the options, <br />issues, and timing regarding Route 29 North. Ms. Waters <br />stated that it was not Council's intention to formulate a <br />position at this time but to identify what the City's <br />interests and concerns are with regard to the proposals for <br />Route 29 North. <br /> <br /> Mro Hendrix reviewed the various studies that have <br />taken place with regard to the Route 29 corridor since the <br />1970's up to the present consultant, Sverdrup. Mr. Hendrix <br />stated that the major issue with regard to Route 29 was <br />local (estimated to be 80% to 90% of the current traffic) <br />versus through traffic, and noted that the goals of <br />these two concerns may be different, as local concerns may <br />also be different than those of the Department of <br />Transportation. <br /> <br /> Mr. Richard Brown, a consultant with Sverdrup, reviewed <br />the process of the current study. Mr. Brown stated that the <br />goal of the study is to resolve/improve traffic on Route 29 <br />North and listed the following components of the study: <br />traffic, design, environment, documentation~ and public <br />input.
