Edwards, seconded by Mr. Towe, Ms. Ann Washington and Ms. Hannah Lee (youth representative) were unanimously appointed to serve three-year terms on the~Youth Commission. These terms will expire on September 30, 1991. APPROPRIATION: $1,100 - DONATION TO COMMUNITY ATTENTION HOME (2nd reading) The appropriation of the $1,100 donation to Community Attention Home which was offered at the October 17th meeting was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $1,100.00, received as proceeds from the Ralph Sampson 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, is hereby accepted as a donation and appropriated to account code 13-162-062131 in the Community Attention Fund to benefit the Job Skills Program. In accordance with the wishes of the donors, the money shall be placed in an account which accrues interest and which is segregated from other fund accounts. APPROPRIATION: ~60,342.04 - SEIZURE PROCEEDS (2nd reading) The $60,342.04 appropriation of seizure proceeds which was offered at the October 17th meeting was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Charlottesville has received two checks from the U. S. Department of Justice, one in the amount of $42,570.00 and one in the amount of $17,772.04, representing proceeds from the sale of assets lawfully seized by the City Police Department from persons subsequently convicted of drug related crimes; and WHEREAS, said funds have been deposited with the Treasurer of the City~ and WHEREAS, the law authorizes the CitY Police Department to receive and spend such proceeds provided the expenditure is on drug related law enforcement matters; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the ~Council off,the City of ~ Charlottesville that such funds totalling $60,342.04 be~and are hereby appropriated to police investigation expenditure account 05-270-041110. APPROPRIATION: $21,000 i? LEGAL FEES FOR MCGUIRE, WOODS, BATTLE & BOOTHE (2nd-reading) The ~21,000 appropriation for legal fees for McGuire, Woods, Battle and Boothe which was offered at the October 17th meeting was approved by the following vote. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of CharlottesviLle, Virginia that the sum of $21,000 is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to expenditure account 05-301-091060 for transfer to the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority for attorneys' fees and costs incurred by CRHA in successfully defending a suit filed by Little, Parsley & Cluverius in 1987. APPROPRIATION: $50,000 - VHDA GRANT FOR RENTAL REHABILITATION PROGRAM (2nd reading)
