256 <br /> <br />PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 9 OF THIS CODE" was offered and carried <br />over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the Thomas Jefferson Planning <br />District Commission has recommended to all the localities in <br />the planning district that a representative from the <br />Commission be employed to monitor General Assembly <br />legislation and notify localities of possible areas of <br />interest. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hannah Twadell from the Planning District <br />Commission~ stated that Albemarle County has agreed to <br />provide funding for the representative, Nelson County has <br />decided against participating, and the other localities have <br />not reached a decision. Ms. Twadell stressed that the <br />representative would not participate in lobbying activities. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that it was his understanding that <br />the representative would not be a present employee of the <br />Planning District Commission and noted that the effectiveness <br />of the representative would depend a great deal on the <br />individual chosen. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that the matter would be considered at the <br />January 3rd meeting at which time the cost to the City would <br />be known. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss personnel and acquisition of property as exempted by <br />Section 2.1-344(a)(1) and (2) of the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act. <br /> <br />..The meeting was adjourned.~ <br />,res~ent ( ~k .... <br /> COUNCIL CHAMBER - January 3, 1989 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, the <br />minutes of the December 12th meeting were approved as <br />presented, with Mr. Vandever abstaining. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Rev. Edwards, the <br />minutes of the December 14th meeting were unanimously <br />approved as presented. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev.
