unanimously reappointed to a two-year term on the Monticello <br />Area Community Action Agency Board. This term is effective <br />immediately and will expire on July 1, 1989. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, Mr. David E, Brown was <br />unanimously appointed to a three-year term on the Region Ten <br />Community Services Board. This term is effective <br />immediately and will expire on June 30, 1990. <br /> <br />REQUEST: USE OF HARDWARE STORE RESTAURANT CAFE SUMMER HOUSE <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that Downtown Charlottesville, Inc. <br />had requested use of the Hardware Store Restaurant Cafe's <br />Summer House for its Santa House and First Night Virginia <br />had requested use of the Summer House for its festivities on <br />New Year's Eve. Mr. Hendrix stated that the Summer House <br />would be dismantled by the Hardware Store following these <br />events. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, seconded by Dr. Hall, Council <br /> unanimously authorized the Hardware Store Restaurant,s <br /> Summer House to remain on the downtown mall for use by DCI <br /> and First Night Virginia. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT: CHILDREN AND YOUTH TASK FORCE <br /> <br /> Mr. Bruce Williamson, President of the Central Virginia <br /> Child Development Association Board, presented the revised <br /> proposal concerning the Children and Youth Task Force, <br /> and noted that the goal was clarified to address the needs <br /> of all children in the community. <br /> <br /> Dr. Tom DeMaio, Chairman of the Youth Commission, <br /> stated that Albemarle County would be invited to participate <br /> in the Task Force which would form five subcommittees and <br /> report back to Council and the Board of Supervisors with <br /> their findings and recommendations. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason stated that she felt the United Way should <br />be involved on the Task Force. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from.~Mr. Barnes concerning <br />costs involved and what.would happen should Albemarle County <br />not become involved, Mr. Williamson stated that only present <br />staff time would be involved and the Task Force would go <br />forward even if the County did not become involved. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, <br />Council unanimously authorized the Children and Youth Task <br />Force to move~forward as proposed, <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes~requested that Council receive feedback on <br />any costs incurred as a result of the Task Force. <br /> <br /> Mr. Louie Chapman, Assistant City Manager, stated that <br />in addition to staff time, only printing costs were <br />expected. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $20,000 - JEFFERSON PARK AVENUE/FONTAINE AVENUE <br />STUDY (COUNTY AND UNIVERSITY SHARE) (2nd reading) <br /> The ~20,000 appropriation for the Jefferson Park~ <br /> Avenue/Fontaine Avenue Study which was offered at the <br /> September 21st meeting, was approved by the following vote. <br /> Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. <br /> Towe. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $20,000 is hereby <br />appropriated from the unappropriated balance of ~the General <br />Fund to expenditure account 01-33060 to pay a consultant to <br />study the Jefferson Park Avenue-Fontaine Avenue area of the <br />City. This appropriation shall be subject to reimbursement <br /> <br /> <br />
