]8 <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, <br />October 26, 19.87 AT 7:15 p.m. IN THE Basement conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Staff Report: Renovations at Venable Elementary School <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br /> BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - October 26, 1987 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gary O'Connell, Deputy City Manager, stated that <br />the architects for renovations at Venable Elementary School <br />need to be given clear directions with regard to the project <br />budget. Mr. O'Connell stated that the original budget for <br />the project was ~2,871~000 with a 20% contingency, for a <br />total of $3,445,000. Mr. O'Connell stated that the <br />architects are concerned that this amount did not include an <br />inflationary increase. Mr. O'Connell stated that certain <br />site improvements for the project could be bid separately if <br />necessary. <br /> <br /> Replying to a question about the impact on the <br />Five-Year Capital Improvement Budget should the project go <br />over budget, Mr, O'Connell stated that funds would have to <br />be taken from other projects. Mr. O'Connell noted that a <br />significant number of change orders was anticipated at <br />Venable. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Hall, Council <br />unanimously reaffirmed the position that the amount <br />originally budgeted ($3,400,000) for the renovations at <br />Venable School be used and that the architects should be <br />instructed to work within that figure. <br /> <br /> Ms. Judith Mueller, Director of Public Works, stated <br />that approximately ~10~000 is budgeted for an underground <br />survey of the Venable School property which would not be <br />necessary if the site work is not done. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck welcomed the new City Attorney, Mr. Clyde <br />Gouldman. <br /> <br /> ~~ting <br />sid~t <br /> <br />was adjourned. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - November 2, 1987 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />minutes of the meeting of October 13th were unanimously <br />approved as presented. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />minutes of the meeting of October 14th were unanimously <br />approved as presented. <br /> <br /> <br />
