Charlottesville, Virginia that $1,730.74 is hereby appropriated from General Fund account 01-51063 (Gift Catalog) to expenditure account 05-52110-5301 for the purpose of completing a landscaping project at Riverview Park. This money was a donation from the Charlottesville- Albemarle Board of Realtors to be used for this specific purpose. APPROPRIATION: $975.19 - DONATION TO COMMUNITY ATTENTION HOME Mr. Hendrix stated this appropriation was a private donation made to be used by the Boys' Attention Home. On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the $975.19 appropriation of a donation to the Community Attention Home was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: None. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $975.19, received as a donation from the estate of Lindsay and Faith March, is hereby appropriated to expenditure account 19-11010-4605. By request of the Administrator of~ Community Attention, the $975.19 will be used for special needs at the Boys's Attention Home. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is requested to send a letter to the donor expressing Council's gratitude for their generosity. APPROPRIATION: MANAGEMENT $68,655 - PEN PARK GOLF COURSE AND CLUBHOUSE Mr. Hendrix stated that the appropriation would set up the funds necessary for the City to operate the Pen Park Clubhouse, contemplates the increase in revenues to be received, and authorizes additional personnel. Responding to a question from Mr. Towe about the full-time greens keepers, Mr. Hendrix stated that they are already City employees. Mr.~Towe questioned whether the concession would be leased out or whether the City would obtain a license to sell beer. Mr. German stated that the City itself cannot legally obtain a license to sell beer and that the concession would therefore probably be leased out. Mr. Buck raised several questions with regard to the appropriation and costs for the City to operate the golf course. Mr. Glen Reynolds, the present golf professional and manager of the Pen Park Clubhouse, questioned the funds allocated for the management of the golf course and stated that he believes that golfers will suffer by losing his services. J Mr. Buck requested that a report be given to Council clarifying the appropriation prior to the second reading of the appropriation. Mr. German stated that it is hoped that a new golf professional could be hired by mid-November. On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Hall, the $68,655 appropriation for Pen Park Golf Course and Clubhouse Management was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration.
