purpose. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrix stated that Mro Buck was correct. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />resolution authorizing the submission of an application <br />for an Urban Development Action Grant was unanimously <br />approved by Council. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is considering a proposal for <br />the construction of an office building on Vinegar Hill; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council finds that substantial public <br />benefits would be derived from such construction; and <br /> <br /> WHERAS, this construction would encourage the general <br />economic vitality of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the need for sufficient public parking <br />spaces exists in the vicinity of the proposed building; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the City Manager is hereby <br />authorized to have prepared, sign and submit to the U. S. <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development of the City's <br />application for an Urban Development Action Grant in the <br />amount of up to $1.6 million to fund the construction of a <br />parking garage for up to 200 spaces which would be built <br />as part of the office building project by the developer. <br /> <br /> Work sessions to discuss drainage and the Capital <br /> Improvement prOjleCt budget were tentatively set for August <br /> 2 ~28th. <br />ing was adjourned. <br /> <br />P~ident ~ ~rk - <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - August 18, 1986 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Mr. Towe. Absent: Dr. Hall. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />minutes of August 4th were approved as presented, with Mr. <br />Barnes abstaining. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Richard Jones of Management Services, requested <br />Council's help in solving the problem of rental property <br />tenants disposing of large items by leaving them next to <br />trash dumpsters. <br /> <br /> Ms. Judith Mueller, Director of Public Works, stated <br />that the problem was typical of others around the <br />University area and that she would work with Mr. Jones and <br />others to try and correct the problem. Ms. Mueller noted <br />that a special trash pickup for the University area was <br />scheduled for September. <br /> <br /> <br />
