217 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition from <br />Martha Jefferson Hospital and Donald R. Richardson <br />requesting vacation of an alley off Lexington Avenue and <br />adjacent to Parcels 252, 254, and 234 on City Real Property <br />Tax Map 53~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notice required <br />by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as <br />amended, has been duly advertised; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that Ms. Mary Jane Haynes, Messrs. <br />W. J. Copeland and H. P. Winn, Jr. report in writing to <br />Council what inconvenience, if any, would result from such <br /> <br />vacation. <br /> <br />meeting was <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />adjourned. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - June 15, 1987 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />minutes of June 1st were unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: APPOINTMENTS TO SCHOOL BOARD <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that State law required that a public <br />hearing be held to address general requirements and specific <br />applicants for the School Board, Mr. Buck stated that one <br />interview had been held and the remaining interviews were <br />scheduled for June 17th and !8th. Mr. Buck read the <br />following list of persons who had applied for the three <br />positions on the School Board: Cliff Bennett, Linda Seaman, <br />Carrie Douglass, Mike Plunkett, Jim Hoff, Ruth Bell, Linda <br />Noakes, James (Bud) Treakle, Joseph Mooney, Sue Lewis, Lida <br />Pritchette-Arnason, Jim Hingeley, JUle White, Kathy Steward, <br />Donald Firer, Mark Safferstone. <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes requested clarification on the terms for <br />which Dr. Bennett and Dr. Mooney were reaPplying. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck replied that Dr. Bennett was applying for his <br />second term and Dr. Mooney was applying for his third term. <br /> <br /> As there was no one to speak, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that appointments were tentatively <br />'scheduled to. be made on June 22nd. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: PROPOSED PUBLIC HOUSING SITES <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the City had received <br /> authorization from HUD for 25 units of public housing <br />scattered throughout the City and the public hearing was <br /> being held to allow the public to respond to the units <br /> chosen by the staff and being recommended to City Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
