RESOLUTION: <br /> <br />Approving Continuation of City Manager's Employment <br /> Agreement <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the <br />Employment Agreement between the City Council and the City Manager, dated November 1, <br />1995, as amended on June 26, 1996 and August 4, t997, is hereby amended effective with <br />the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998 as set forth more fully below: <br /> <br /> Salary - Section 6 of said contract related to salary is amended so that the City <br />Manager's base salary shall be increased by 3% effective on July 1, 1998. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all other terms of said 1995 contract, as <br />amended, are hereby reaffirmed, ratified, and renewed; and that this resolution shall be <br />certified by the Clerk of Council, labeled Amendment No. 3, physically appended to the <br />original contract and signed by the City Manager and by the Mayor, and, in such form, <br />this Resolution shall serve as an amendment to the contract without further documentation. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted a proposed Employee Classification and <br />Pay Plan for the City of Charlottesville dated July 1, 1998; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Pay Plan assigns salary ranges to each class or position in the City <br />service; now, therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the Employee <br />Classification and Pay Plan for the City of Charlottesville dated July 1, 1998 and effective on <br />that same date, is hereby approved pursuant to Sections 19-3 and 19-4 of the Code of the <br />City of Charlottesville, 1990, as amended, and a copy of the same shall be kept on file with <br />the records of the meeting at which this resolution is approved. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: UTILITY RATES <br />ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> Ms. Rita Scott, Director of Finance, reviewed the proposed utility rates and capital <br />needs, including a sewer study, addition of gas main feeder lines, an automated meter reading <br />system, and gas and water meter replacement program. Sewer rates are proposed to increase <br />an average of 9.2%, water rates to increase an average 11%, and gas rates to increase an <br />average 2.65%. Ms. Scott added that the City's Gas Assistance Program has received over <br />$10,500 in donations this year, which, in addition to the City's contribution, has assisted 140 <br />households. <br /> <br /> The public hear;nag was opened, but as there were no speakers, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br /> <br />It was agreed that a work session on the utility rates would be held on June 17th. <br /> <br /> <br />
