APPROPRIATION: <br /> <br />$94,847 - Victim Witness Coordinator Grant <br />(2na reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />the sum of $94,847.00, to be received as a grant from the Virginia Department of <br />Criminal Justice Services, is hereby appropriated to expenditure account 11-230-032042 <br />in the Grants Fund for the purpose of funding the Victim &Witness Assistance Program <br />in the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney during fiscal year 1998-1999. This <br />appropriation is conditioned upon receipt of $94,847.00 in state and federal funding. <br /> <br />c. RESOLUTION: <br /> <br />Approving Permit Parking for University Circle <br />and University Way <br /> <br /> WItEREAS, residents of University Circle and University Way have requested <br />that City Council designate those streets as a restricted parking block; and <br /> <br /> WttEREAS, in accordance with the permit parking regulations, the City Traffic <br />Engineer has conducted on street parking surveys, mailed notice to all property owners of <br />the affected area, and posted signs on University Circle and University Way, that Council <br />will consider designating such area as a restricted parking block; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the surveys have shown that at least 75% of the total number of on <br />street parking spaces in the proposed restricted parking block were occupied, and at least <br />50% of the total number of on street parking spaces in that block were occupied by <br />commuter vehicles; and <br /> <br />WItEREAS, Council has considered: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />the purpose and intent of the permit parking ordinance and <br />regulations; <br /> <br />the alternate means of transportation, if any, to and from <br />the restricted parking blocks being established; <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />the adverse impact that restricting parking in such blocks <br />might have on-nearby neighborhoods that do not have <br />permit parking; and <br /> <br /> <br />
