Absent: Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />minutes of May 6th were approved as corrected. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: CLOSING OF RAILROAD GRADE CROSSING AT 1ST STREET <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that a request had been received <br />from the C & O Railroad to close the crossing at 1st Street <br />because the level of traffic is low and the site distance <br />is very limited. Mr. Hendrix stated that staff had no <br />objections to the closing. <br /> <br /> As there was no one tp speak, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason noted concern that trucks use 1st Street <br />from Garrett Street and that 1st Street might be used to a <br />greater extent when Garrett Street is closed at Ridge <br />Street in a few years. Mrs. Gleason suggested carrying <br />the matter over to for two weeks to allow persons who had <br />previously expressed concern to be notified. <br /> <br />The matter was carried over to the next meeting. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: .HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION CERTIFICATES <br /> <br /> Mr.-Buck stated that the Historic Landmarks Commission <br />had recommended several persons to receive certificates <br />for their renovation of historic structures. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, <br />the resolutions recognizing renovations in historic districts <br />were unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
