We would much prefer,
however, to continue to enforce our ten-year-
old housing code which has served the City
well and is tailored to its particular needs.

RESOLUTION: APPOINTING VIEWERS TO CONSIDER CLOSING A PORTION
OF HARDY DRIVE FROM ENTRANCE TO WESTHAVEN HOUSING PROJECT AT
PAGE STREET TO ITS TERMINUS AT NORTHWEST CORNER OF WESTHAVEN

Mr. Wiley stated that the Housing Authority had
petitioned to have Hardy Drive closed which woul'd give
the Authority control of the street which would help
alleviate the law enforcement problems in the area.

On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the
resolution appointing viewers to consider closing Hardy
Drive was unanimously approved by Council.

WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition requesting
vacation of Hardy Drive from its entrance to Westhaven
Housing Project at Page Street to the terminus of Hardy
Drive at the northeast corner of the Westhaven Housing
Project; and

WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notice required
by Section 1S.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (19S0), as
amended, has been duly advertised; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Charlottesville that Ms. Mary Jane Haynes, Messrs. TO ITS TERMINUS

Mr. Wiley stated that the Housing Authroity has some
concerns with closing Short Street, but that they could be
considered when the viewers' reports have been completed.

On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the
resolution appointing viewers to consider closing a portion
of Short Street was unanimously approved by Council.

WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition requesting
vacation of Short Street from its entrance off 10th Street,
N.W. to its terminus, a distance of approximately. 260 feet;
and

WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notice required
by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (19S0), as
amended, has been duly advertised; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Charlottesville that Ms. Mary Jane Haynes, Messrs.
