96 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: <br /> <br />LICENSES <br /> <br />CHANGING INTEREST RATE ON DBLI'NQUENT BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that this would change the interest <br />rates for delinquent business licenses in order to bring <br />them in line with other City interest rates. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 15-6 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />VIRGINIA, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO PENALTIES FOR FAILURE <br />TO OBTAIN BUSINESS LICENSE" was offered and carried over to <br />the next meeiing for consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Dr. Gunter requested that staff prepare a report on <br />the possibility of enforcing the noise ordinance in <br />commercial zones as she had received complaints from <br />persons residing in or adjacent to those areas. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wiley stated that the noise ordinance currently <br />only applies in residential zones but could be changed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck requested that the issue of design controls <br />for art/sculpture be placed on the agenda for the next <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> On a question from Mr. Barnes concerning the status <br />of the Cable franchise, Mr. Wiley stated that he is working <br />on a draft of a new franchise ordinance. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING BOND BY CITY TREASURER <br /> <br /> Mr. Wiley stated that the City Treasurer had posted <br />a $12,100 bond to proceed with a delinquent tax sale and <br />requested Council's specific authorization for the action. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the <br />resolution authorizing the bond posted by the City Treasurer <br />was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia: <br /> <br /> That the recent action of the City Treasurer in <br />posting a $12,100 cash bond with the Circuit Court for <br />the City of Charlottesville as security for the faithful <br />performance of the Assistant City Attorney, acting as Special <br />Commissioner for the sale of tax-delinquent parcels TM3-101 <br />and TM4-225, is hereby ratified. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Gunter, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, <br />Council voted to meet in executive session to discuss <br />matters of personnel, disposition of public property and <br />legal matters as exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1), (2) <br /> <br /> and~the Virginia Freedom <br />~ng wa~ adjourned. <br /> <br />Fresiden~ <br /> <br />of Information Act. <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Thursday,- <br />August 8, 1985 AT 7:30 p.m. IN THE Basement Conference Room <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br />
