NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL.BE HELD ON Monday, <br />September $, 198S AT 6:4S p.m. IN THE Mayor's Office. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS EOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Executive session to discuss personnel matters as <br />exempted by Section 2.1-544(a)(1) of the Virginia Freedom <br /> <br />of Information Act. <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br /> MAYOR'S OFFICE <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox [signed) <br /> <br />September 3, 198S <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br /> following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, <br /> Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Gunter, Council <br /> voted to meet in executive session to discuss personnel matters <br /> as exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia Freedom <br /> of Information Act. <br /> <br /> COUNCIL CHAMBER September 3, 1985 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br /> following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, <br /> Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br /> minutes of July 31st were unanimously approved as presented. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br /> minutes-of August 19th were unanimously approved as presented. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the <br /> minutes of August 26th were unanimously approved as presented. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that there are two vacancies on the <br /> Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> Dr. Hall nominated Mr. Charles Barbour for the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes nominated Mr. Earl Burton for the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> <br /> Dr. Gunter nominated Mr. Lloyd Snook for the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> <br /> The votes were as follows: For Mr. Snook: Mr. Barnes, <br /> Mr. Buck, ~rs. Gleason, Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. For Mr. Barbour: <br /> Mr. Buck, Dr. Gunter, Dr~ Hall. For Mr. Burton: Mr. Barnes, <br /> Mrs. Gleason. <br /> <br /> Mr. Snook was reappointed and Mr. Barbour appointed to <br /> four-year terms on the Planning Commission. These terms are <br /> effective immediately and will expire on August 31, 1989. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT: NOISE ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that staff had reviewed the noise <br /> ordinance and recommended that if Council wishes to change <br /> the applicability to commercial zones, then a public hearing <br /> should be held as there had been many objections to doing so <br /> in the past. <br /> <br />10S <br /> <br /> <br />
