Mr. Enders <br />requestsed that the City contract for janitorial services <br />from Workshop V. <br /> <br /> Ms. Sandra Levine, President of Piedmont Council of <br />the Arts, stated that the funds requested from the City <br />would be used to leverage matching funds from the Virginia <br />Commission for the Arts, though if the matching grant was <br />not received, PCA would still want to have the City funds. <br />Ms. Levine stated that space had been offered at the Omni <br />Hotel for PCA to use for $200 a month. <br /> <br /> receiv~CDBG funding appear at <br /> <br /> tlng was adjourned. <br /> President <br /> <br />It was recommended that those agencies recommended to <br /> the next work session. <br /> <br />C~k t <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Tuesday, <br />March 25, 1986 AT 3:30 p.m. IN THE Basement Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Meeting with representative of the Governor's <br />Transportation Commission to discuss transportation issues <br />and priorities. <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF 'THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br />Basement Conference Room - March 25, 1986 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. <br /> <br /> Mr. Curtis Coward, a member of the Governor's <br />Transportation Commission, stated that the Commission, <br />composed of five members of the House of Delegates, five <br />members of the State Senate, six former Virginia <br />governors, and twelve to fourteen citizen members, had <br />been formed to identify the real transportation needs of <br />the State and how to fund those projects. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that he felt the State should have a <br />policy to address the issue of preserving the urban <br />environment of cities. <br /> <br /> Dr. Gunter, who is Chairperson of the Metropolitan <br />Planning Organization (MPO), stated that there was concern <br />about the impact on the City of eight laning Route 29 <br />North. <br /> <br /> Mr. Coward stated that parts of the Piedmont Corridor <br />presently exist and it was his sense that bypasses around <br />the remaining cities would be built. Mr. Coward <br />recommended that the City and Albemarle County work <br />together on a bypass because funding may be available in <br />the near future for such a project, but would not be <br />available later.
