224 <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON <br />Wednesday, April 9, 1986 AT 12:00 noon IN THE Jefferson <br />School Annex, Room 19, 4th Street. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS CONCERNING THE BIDS <br />SUBMITTED FOR THE PURCHASE OF SIX MILLION DOLLARS <br />($6,000,000) PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF GENERAL OBLIGATION PUBLIC <br />IMPROVEMENT BONDS, SERIES 1986, OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA; ACCEPTING A PROPOSAL TO <br />PURCHASE SUCH BONDS; FIXING THE RATES OF INTEREST TO BE <br />BORNE BY SUCH BONDS; APPROVING THE FORM OF SUCH BONDS; AND <br />APPOINTING THE REGISTRAR FOR SUCH BONDS. <br /> <br />Luncheon meeting with School Board. <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br />Jefferson School Annex - April 9, 1986 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. <br />Gunter, Dr. Hall. Absent: Mr. Barnes. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING SALE OF $6 MILLION BONDS <br /> <br /> Mr. Roger Wiley, City Attorney, stated that the $6 <br />million outstanding from bonds previously approved by <br />Council were being refinanced in order to take advantage <br />of lower rates. Mr. Wiley stated that six bids had been <br />received and the lowest bidder was Chase Manhattan Bank, <br />etc. at a rate of 6.3549%, with a premium of $100. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Gunter, <br />the resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION MAKING CERTAIN <br />FINDINGS CONCERNING THE BIDS SUBMITTED FOR THE PURCHASE OF <br />SIX MILLION DOLLARS ($6,000,000) PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF <br />GENERAL OBLIGATION PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT BONDS, SERIES 1986, <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA; ACCEPTING A <br />PROPOSAL TO PURCHASE SUCH BONDS; FIXING THE RATES OF <br />INTEREST TO BE BORNE BY SUCH BONDS; APPROVING THE FORM OF <br />SUCH BONDS; AND APPOINTING THE REGISTRAR FOR SUCH BONDS" <br />was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. Absent: Dr. <br />Gunter. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to an ordinance, entitled "AN <br />ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $9,500,000 GENERAL <br />OBLIGATION BOND ANTICIPATION NOTES OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE," adopted by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia (the "City") on October 27, 1983 <br />(the "Bond Ordinance"), there were authorized to be issued <br />$9,500,000 principal amount of general obligation bonds and <br />a like principal amount of general obligation bond <br />anticipation notes in anticipation of the issuance and sale <br />of such bonds: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the authorization of the Bond <br />Ordinance and a resolution adopted by the Council of the <br />City on April 29, 1985, there has heretofore been issued a <br />$9,500,000 principal amount general obligation General <br />Improvement Bond Anticipation Note, dated as of April 29, <br />1985, and maturing on April 28, 1986 (the "1985 Note"); <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the authorization of the Bond <br />Ordinance and a resolution, entitled "A RESOLUTION MAKING <br />CERTAIN FINDINGS CONCERNING THE BIDS SUBMITTED FOR THE <br />PURCHASE OF FIVE MILLION DOLLARS ($5,000,000) PRINCIPAL <br />AMOUNT OF GENERAL OBLIGATION PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT BONDS, <br />SERIES 1985, OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA; <br /> <br /> <br />
