26S STAFF REPORT: URBAN DESIGN PLAN Mr. Barnes moved and Dr. Gunter seconded a motion to eliminate the specific use of University of Virginia School of Architecture consultants for the Urban Design Plan. The motion was unanimously approved (Mr. Buck was absent for the vote.) Council agreed to invite University employees to respnd to requests for proposals along with other general planning and economic consultants. STAFF REPORT: TECHNICAL COMMITTEE MAKE-UP FOR CITY/COUNTY/ UNIVERSITY COORDINATING COUNCIL Council discussed the make-up of the Technical Committee for the City/County/University Coordinating Council. (Mr. Buck arrived at this point.) Mr. Barnes moved and Dr. Hall seconded a motion to ask the Planning Commission to name two of its members to the Technial Committee. The Director of Planning and Community Development would be the third member from the City. The motion was unanimously approved by Council. On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Gunter, Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to discuss use of public property as exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(2) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. 1dent was adjourned. THE AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Luncheon meeting with the School Board BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - June 11, 1986 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleasont Dr. Hall. Absent: Dr. Gunter. Dr. Vincent Cibbarelli, Superintendent of Schools, stated that a preliminary draft of the Future Needs Study would be available in the near future. Mr. Jim Dunbar of School Administration, discussed the schedule for renovation of Clark and Venable Elementary Schools, stating that construction was hoped to begin in the spring of 1987. Mr. Dunbar stated that construction at each school was expected to take two summers and one full semester and that the schools would not be under construction at the same time. Mr. Dunbar stated that students are tentatively scheduled to be housed in Jefferson School while the schools are under construction. Following a discussion it was agreed that a work session would be held in July with Council and the School Board to discuss the planned renovation and expenses of the schools before firm commitments are made.
