22 <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br />Clerk <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER, DECE 'BFR 52 1938 <br />The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members <br />present: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, Mr. Jessup, and Mr. Peyton. <br />Minutes of the Meetings of November 21, and November 29, 1938, were read and <br />approved. <br />Ministerial A Committee from the local Ministerial Association addressed the Council relative <br />Association <br />Cormittee re: to the care of poor and destitute people within the City and requested that addition - <br />Indigents <br />al money be made available for Welfare purposes. On motion by Dr. Haden, seconded <br />Indigent <br />Committee <br />Appointed <br />County Water <br />Connection <br />Sid ewa1 <br />Application <br />by fir. Gleason, the following resolution was unanimously adopted:' <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />a Committee consisting of four citizens from the City at large and one <br />Commissioner be appointed to investigate the need of additional relief <br />within the City of Charlottesville. The President appointed Mr. Fred L-. <br />Watson, Chairman; Mrs. I. Walters; Dr. D. C. Smith; Rev. Edwin S. Sweeney; <br />and Dr. W. D. Haden to serve on this Committee. <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, a County `dater Connection was granted to E. D. Hundley. <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, the following sidewalk application was approved for <br />construction: <br />Estimated. Burnley Evergreen Avenue <br />$52.80 X35.20 <br />X17.60 <br />A communication from the Chief of Police relative to time lost by Policeman <br />Communication S. S. Payne due to a broken arm,was presented. A motion by Dr. Haden, seconded by <br />fro-, Chief of <br />Police ie: Mr. Peyton, that Policeman Payne be not paid for the time lost since he was not <br />time off on <br />account of hurt in the line of duty, was unanimouly adopted. <br />sic=mess <br />The following retort was unanimously adopted: <br />December 5, 1938 <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />City of Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: - <br />The following report was unanimously adopted: <br />December 5, 1938 <br />Cllr. Peyton, Jr. <br />With reference to sale <br />of lot on the corner <br />of Frys <br />Re)ort re: <br />Spring Road and Woodroid <br />Street, inasmuch as <br />this is on <br />Sale of lot <br />a curve, your Committee <br />recommends that this <br />lot be not <br />Frys Spring Rd.& <br />sold. <br />Woodrow Street <br />Respectfully <br />submitted, <br />W.
