<br />We enclose herewith a duly certified check payable to the
<br />order of the City Treasurer, Charlottesville, Virginia, in the
<br />amount of (2%) two percentum of the face amount of the said bonds
<br />(viz: X3,000.00) which check, is to be returned to us if this bid
<br />is not accepted, otherwise to be deposited by said City Treasurer
<br />and, when the bonds are delivered and paid for under the terms of
<br />this bid, to be considered as part payment t?.erefor, or to be re-
<br />tained as and for liquidated damages in case we fail to ta',le up
<br />and pay for the bonds.

<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE FITvANCE COMMITTEE HELD AT 12:00
<br />O'CLOCK NOON ON THE 5th DAY OF JUNE, 1939.
<br />June 5, 1939
<br />A meeting of the Finance Committee of the City of Charlottesville 1
<br />was held in the Council Chamber at the City Hall at 12:00 o'clock Noon,
<br />E. S. T.., or, the 5th day of June, 1939, at which all members were present.
<br />Mr. Jessup presided as Chairman, and Mr. James F. Bonen, Jr., Clerk
<br />of the Council, who was also present, was directed to act as Secretary.
<br />Mr. Bowen rejorted that the Notice of Bond Sale of w1502000.00 City of
<br />Charlottesville General Improvement Bonds, Series of 1939, as adopted by
<br />the Finance Committee and approved by the Council, all of which appears
<br />in the minutes of the meeting of the Council held on May 15, 1939, was
<br />published in The Daily Bond Buyer on May 23, 3939, and that a copy of
<br />said Notice was mailed to all interested bond houses. A copy of said
<br />Notice of Bond Sale and Form of Bid was presented, and the Secretary was
<br />directed to attach a copy of said Notice of Sale anti. the bid of the
<br />successful bidder to the report of the Finance Committee to the City
<br />Council.
<br />The Chairman, Mr. Jessup, proceeded to open all of the bids w1iich
<br />had been received, and they were recorded by the Secretary as follows:
