A Committee from the School Board,composed of Messrs. Perry, Dettor, Balz,
<br />Gleason, Snyder, and Dr. Johnson, addressed the Council in regard to an application
<br />Additional for a P. W. A. grant for additional equipment in the New White High School. The
<br />Equipment
<br />for New Committee explained that the total amount of the project was to be A21,720.00, and
<br />Whit e High
<br />School 45% was to be paid by P. W. A. The Council went into Executive Session where a motion
<br />by Dr. Haden that the foregoing matter be tabled, was unanimously adopted.

<br />Minutes of the Meetings of September 5, and September 12, 1939, were read and
<br />approved.
<br />°o Mr. John H. Miller addressed the Council and presented a petition in regard to

<br />Piedmont Piedmont Avenue. On motion by Mr. Jessup, this petition was referred to the City
<br />'Q Avenue
<br />Attorney for investigation and report.
<br />Street Light On motion a petition in regard to a street light on Goodman Street was referred
<br />Goodman St.
<br />to the Mayor and City 1dana.ger with power to act.
<br />Communications from the Chief of Police relative to time lost by policemen on
<br />account of sickness were presented. On motion by Dr. Haden, seconded by 11r. Gleason,
<br />Time lost Policeman Dudley was ordered paid one-half pay for time lost on September 4 and 5,
<br />by police-
<br />men 1939; Policeman C. 0. Durham was ordered paid one-half pay for the time lost from
<br />August 14 to 28, inclusive, 1939; and Policeman A. E. Roberts was ordered paid one-
<br />half pay for the time lost from September 1 to 11, inclusive, 1939•
<br />A communication from the Library Board stating that they had fixed the salaries of
