<br />unexpired part of the license surrendered.

<br />Every licensed carriage, hack, wagon, or other vehicle, shall have its license
<br />number plainly marked on metal or other material and placed on the rear face of the
<br />rear axle thereof, or other conspicuous place.

<br />It sr►all be unlawful to transf .r a tag frum one vehicle to another, except in
<br />case of a vehicle being tempurarily disabled.
<br />The Chief of Police is hereby designated Wagon Inspector and it shall be his duty
<br />to see teat all vehicles for which a license is required under this section shall have
<br />their number properly displayed, and if any vehicle be found without such number it
<br />shall be his duty to ascertain the name of the owner and require said license to be
<br />procured, under penalty as provided in the General provisions of this ordinance.
<br />Tn the discharge of the duty thus imposed the C)lief shall have authority to call
<br />to- his aid the several members of his force.

<br />On all persons, whetter redident or non-resident, who deal in wood and coal
<br />the tax shall be foftydollars ($50.), or twenty five dollars for either wood or coal;
<br />and every Terson who s_ abuy1n 1 buy and sell wood or coal to be delivered in this city
<br />shall be deemed and considered a dealer under the provisions of this section, and
<br />required to pay the licence tax herein imposrd; provided t',is 97 th, section shall not
<br />apply to a person who buys wood by the wagon load two miles beyond the corporate
<br />limits and who brings it in to t',e city on wagons and sells it by the wagon:. load.
<br />This section s:lall not apply to persons having merchants license.

<br />A like license shall be required of any firm, joint stock company or corporation
<br />as provided for in this ordinance for a person or firm.

<br />On every license for which a tax shall not have been provided for in this ordinance
<br />the tax shall be the saine as that required by the State Tax Laws.

<br />Any person, firm or corpora, conducting a 'business,occupation or profession
<br />for the conduct of which a license tax is required under this ordinance, without first
<br />obtaining such license, if no specific fine is provided for such violation, shall be
<br />fined hot less than ?x,2.50 nor more than -T�10. for each day he is in default.
<br />It shall be the duty of the Commissioner of Revenue and Treasurer to report in
<br />writing to the yayor every case of default as soon as i- comes to his knowledge and
<br />the Commissioner of revenue shall also report to the Finance Conmittee the name ,
<br />location and business of every person in default; and if there be no default he shall
<br />so report.
<br />And it shall be the duty of the T,ayor, irrnediately upon the receipt of such report
<br />to detail a&liceman and cause such delinquent to be sumrlonsed before the Police
<br />Justice to show cause why tbey should not be fined under provisons of this ordinance.
<br />But the special detail of a policeman shall not releive the general force
<br />from thegeneral duty of enforcing t'!is or any other ordinance; and the r'yur shall
<br />requirements of this ordinance are enforced, and to t)iis
<br />especially sec that all t1le
<br />end he shall,, at leat once a month, especially require the police to investigate
<br />violations of this ordinance.
