AN ORDIANCE AMENDING SECTION 418 OF THE CITY CODE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF CUARLOTTESITILLE,That section 418 of the City Code, entitled "Size of Connections", be amended by the addition of the following clause; Claued a. The Water Committee be and is hereby authorised to grant to any applicant the permission to install a stand pipe of three inches or less in diameter,in his building,to be used only in case of fire,provided said applicant pay all costs _ thereto. Such installation and pipe always to be under the control, direction and inspection of the superintendent of water, and provided further, that this section be subject to the penalty as contained in section 428 of the Code. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTI0N 367 OF TFIR CITY CODE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE That sec. 367 of the City Code to is hereby amended to read as follows; Sec. 367.--Privies, Farth Closets, etc. No privy, other than a water closet shall be located within ten feet of any street or within the same distance of the line of adjoining property unless the owner of adjoining property consent to its being located or remaining within such distance; no earth privy shall be permitted to exist within the city, except in cases where _ are excluded from water or server facilities and then only when a permit has been _ by the Health Officer or by the Board of wealth and upon a license of three dollars ($3) per annum, payable quarterly in advance by the owner of the property; said permit, to be in force for one year from its issue, or for such less time than a year as the license has been paid for, and may be renewed at the discretion of the Health Officer or the Board of Health upon the payment of the license of three dollars ($3) as provided above. on or before the tenth day after the ending of each quarter the Treasurer shall report to the Health Officer a list of all who have failed to pay the amount necessary to renew the life of the permit for the current quarter. The health Officer shall thereupon report each delinquent to tho police Justice as guilty of maintaining to earth closet in violation of law. Any one violating this section shall be fined two dollars ($2) for each day the offense continues after being notified by the Mrayor or Health Officer to remove the _ This ordiance shall be in force from its passage. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 369 OF THE CITY CODE/ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, That paragraphs C.D.E. F od sec. 369 be and the same are hereby rescinded and that section reenacted to read as following Sec.369. privies,etc.--when cleaned. a. The cleaning of closets or privies within the city limits shall be done exclusively by and under the direction of the department of wealth, and it shall be unlawful for any private party to contract to do said work through or by any private person. b. The said closets or privies -shall be properly cleaned and disinfected by said department and the excrement from said closets or privies shall be removed in its sealed bararels or other covered receptacles and disinfected by said department,or under of direction, and deposited in such manner as shall be directed by the Mayor or Board of Health.
