A RESOLUTION
<br />RESOLVED, BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
<br />
<br />CONCURRING,That a cinder walk be laid from Sullivan's to city limits on East Market
<br />
<br />Street to connect with a similar walk frum the Woolen -Mills to the city line near
<br />
<br />Wingfield's store, and same be charged to Annexed Territory Account.
<br />
<br />Adopted by the Common Council Dec. 14,1916.

<br />RESOLVED, BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN

<br />CONCURRING, That Whereas the salary of the police force of this City is less than
<br />
<br />any city in Virginia, and it has been several years since there has been an increase
<br />
<br />and whereas the high cost ofliving has imposed upon them a burden which they cannot
<br />
<br />overcome, Therefore, be it RESOLVED, That each man now on the force be given an
<br />
<br />increase of $5. per month beginning December 1, 1916.
<br />
<br />Resolved, further, That any new man that may be taken on the force shall be paid
<br />
<br />at the old rate for the first two months and if he proves efficient at the expiration
<br />
<br />of the two months then he shall be increased $5.00 per month.

<br />RESOLVED, BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN,

<br />That, Whereas a special committee appointed by the Aldermen and Council,
<br />
<br />with full power to investigate and comprumise or appeal the Appleberry judgment of
<br />
<br />$3,500. vs. the City, have reported a compromise of $2,250. and costs, therefore be it
<br />
<br />RESOLVED, That the sum of $2,292.14 be and is hereby appropriated and the mayor is
<br />
<br />authorized to pay same when the judgment is marked satisfied and approved by the
<br />
<br />City Attorney.
