<br />CUhCURRING, That Whereas the salary of the police force of this City is less than
<br />a? -..y city in Virginia, and it has been several years since there has been an increase
<br />and whereas the high cost ofliving has imposed upon them a burden which they cannot
<br />overcome, Therefore, be it RESOLVED, That each man now on the force be given an
<br />increase of 1.5. per month beginning December 1,116.
<br />Resolved, further, That any new man that may be taken on the force shall be paid
<br />at the old rate for the first two months and if he proves efficient at the expiration
<br />of the two months then he shall be increased $5.00 per month.

<br />$3,500. vs. the City, have reported a compromise of 42,250. and costs, therefore be it
<br />RESOLVED, That the sum of $2,292.14 be and is hereby appropriated and the ma -yo r. is
<br />authorized to pay same when the judgment is marked satisfied. and approved by the
