<br />Traffic Be it ordained by the Council cf tie City ofCharlottesville that Sections 2 and
<br />Ordinance. 14 of an ordinance " Providinf for tie regulation of travel and traffic on the
<br />streets, alleys, avenues, bridges, crossings and sidewalks" adopted Au7ust 1 1�
<br />be amended and re -ordained so as to read as follows:

<br />Sec. 2. The streets or portions of streets hereinafter designated are hereby
<br />declared to be congested territory, and no vel,iclas s�-,all be parked thereon exCept
<br />as hereinafter provided, and allvehicles shall conform to tie subsequent provision
<br />herein as to diredtion and speed. T're following streete are designated as congested
<br />territory: 'fain Street extending fromthe intersection of seventh Street East, to
<br />the intersection of rourth Street gest, Fifth Street Fast, Fourth Street Fast, Third
<br />Street Fast, Second Street East and First Street and. Second Street west, extending to
<br />Watc;r Street, and the 'wagor stall rave the power to desifynate and locate standing or
<br />parking palaces for vehicles, at such places as are not inconsistent with the places
<br />hereby dtrsignated, and not to interfere with traffic. No vel,icle shall stand or
<br />rerrain stationary on that part of Yain Street deairrnated as convected territory
<br />between seven A: l'.' and seven P. Y. for a period of more than tv irty minutes.
<br />On all other streets designated as congested territory, care may be parked on the
<br />riF.ht hand side of such streets headed in the direction of traffic.
<br />The following North and Suuth bound Streets are rereby declared one-way streets;
<br />and it shall be unlawful for any vehicle: to be propelled -or moved in a direction
<br />other than herein set forth; South bound-- Fiftl- Street, Fast, Third Street East, and
<br />First Street, from,Tefferson Street, Norte of gain Street, to Pater Street,South of
<br />"FainStreet, trese are heresy declared to be one-way streets to be used onl,.• fur south
<br />bound Traffic. 'north bound— Fourt'- Street Fast, second Street Fast, c-econd Street
<br />vest, from?efferson Street, Northof vain Street to Water Street South oVain Street,
<br />these are hereby declared to be one-way streets, to be used only for North bound traffi
<br />PASSING.
<br />Sec. 14 (R) 'lehicles overtaking, anuther shall pass on the left of t -e overtaken vehicle
<br />and not return to the ri7ht until entirely clear of t1re overtaken vesicle.
<br />110 vesicle shall be allowed to stand for any length of titre wit',in twentti feet of any
<br />fireplug, nor wi.trinten feet of the cor•erof any City block as measured from the
<br />building line extended nor within five feet of an alley corntr, and all vehicles on
<br />tr treets whdninot in motion shall be kept with the right Bide next to the curb.
<br />b) It shall be unlawful for a streetcar to enter a switch or passim track
<br />on Main Street unt ilthe opposing car enters the op, oeite switch at the same time,
<br />except the switch at union Station when the cars may enter tVe passing track and stop,
<br />175 feet west cf tie west side of Eighth Street, and remain standing until the
<br />opposingcar enters ttile or;posite switch, and except that east bound cars shall be
<br />allowed to enter passing, track at Vidway School and discharge and receive passengers
<br />at a point east of tti,e monument, while awaAting west, bound ears. Except as above
<br />provided, it shallbe unlawful to Stop) any street car for receivinf? or discharging
<br />pasbengerB except at regular stops. The operator of a street car so doing shall be
<br />fined not less than five dollars for each offense.
<br />Regular stops for street cars shall be at Btr et corners, oppusite tti'e
<br />Gleason 7-7ctel and at such Wier : oints as may be `esirrnated by the Council.
<br />�( c) In overtaking a streetcar which tae beenstoppe d at a regular stop for the
<br />purpose of receivinpor discharging a paeBenFrer or passenrere a vesicle shall stop at
<br />a Foint not less than four feet fromthe dour of sues street car and remain stopped
<br />until said str et car door has been clused.
