ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CONVENANCE OF CERTAIN LOTS TO

<br />SCHOOL BOARD OF CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, The school board of the City of Charlottesville at a
<br />
<br />meeting held at McGuffey School, at ten o'clock on the morning of Wednesday,
<br />
<br />November 1, 1922, passed certain preambles and a resolution requesting the Council
<br />
<br />of the the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, to purchase certain lots and
<br />
<br />parcels of land outlined in said preambles and resolution for school and play.
<br />
<br />ground purposes and further requesting that the title to said lots and parcels of
<br />
<br />land be vested in the City of Charlottesville until such time as the School Board
<br />
<br />of the City of Charlottesville might have funds with which to pay the purchase price
<br />
<br />of said parcels of land, or parts of such parcels of land, (See Minute Book "E"
<br />
<br />of Council, pages, 173, 174 and 175 under date of November 13, 1922 for full
<br />
<br />request of City School Board, and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, The School Board of the City of Charlottesville, through
<br />
<br />its Finance Committee, has informed said Council that it is now ready to pay the
<br />
<br />purchace price for certain portions of the above parcels of land, now therefore
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that
<br />
<br />a Deed be drawn conveying the title to the following named lots and parcels of
<br />
<br />land to the School Board of the City of Charlottesville, and
<br />
<br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That the mayor of said City and the Clerk of
<br />
<br />the Council be quthorized, empowered, and instructed to execute a deed in the
<br />
<br />name of and on behilf of said City conveying the following named lots to the
<br />
<br />School Board of the City of Charlottesville: lots numbered 23 and 24 in block number
<br />
<br />6, on the survey and plat of the Charlottesville Land Company's "Preston Heights"
<br />
<br />property of record in the Clerk's Office in the Circuit Court of Albemarle Countny
<br />
<br />Deed Book 97, pages 346, and 347. Said lots being in all respects, the Name lots
<br />
<br />conveyed to the City of Charlottesville by Willie Love and Elizabeth Love, his
<br />
<br />wife, by Deed dated 13th day of November, 1922 and recorded in Deed Book 42, page
<br />
<br />111 in the Clerk's Office of the Corporation Court of the City of Charlottesville,
<br />
<br />and lots 14, 159 169 179 189 19, 209 21, 22, 25, and 26 in block 6 of same plat
<br />
<br />previously referred to. Said lots 14-22 inclusive and 25 and 26 being in all respect
<br />
<br />the same lots conveyed to the City of Charlottesville by Helen A. Woods, a widow,
<br />
<br />under Deed dated 16th day of November, 1922 and reoorded in Deed Book 42, page
<br />
<br />116 in the Clerk's Office of the Corporation Court of the City of Charlottesville,
<br />
<br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this deed be delivered to the school
<br />
<br />Board of the City of Charlottesville immediately on the payment of what said lots
<br />
<br />cost the City including purchase price, taxes, recording deeds interest at 5%
<br />
<br />on the money etc. which amounted to
<br />
<br />Adopted by the Council January 26, 1924,
