This ordinance shall be effective on and after July 1, 1930. Adopted by the.Council May 19, 1930, Ayes: Messrs, Brown, Watson, Morris and Twyman; Noes: None Clerk Signature President Signature SECTION 57 1/2 ENTITLED I GOLF -- MINIATURE OR TOM THUMB Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the License Tax Ordinance adopted March 30, 1930, be amended by adding the following new section: SECTION 57 1/2 GOLF -- MINIATURE, TOM THUMB, ETC, On every license to operate a miniature or Tom Thumb Golf Course there shall be a tax of $50.00. No Pro Rata, Adopted by the Council June 2, 1930. Ayes Messrs. Brown, Watson, Dorris and Twyman; Noes: None, Clerk Signature President Signature DANGEROUS ANIMALS -- UNLAWFUL TO PERMIT TO BE AT LARGE. SECTION 578 OF CITY CODE AMENDED, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 578 of the City Code of 1909 entitled "Dangerous Animals --Unlawful to Permit to Be at Large" be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows: SECTION 578. DANGEROUS ANIMALS -- UNLAWFUL TO PERMIT TO BE AT LARGE. No person, firm or corporation shall suffer or permit any animal belonging to him or it or under the control of him or it and known or reasonably suspected of being dangerous to go at large in the City of Charlottesville, or be kept in said City at any time except in strict confinement in such manner as to be safe for the public. Any violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not leas than $2.00 nor more than $25.00 and each day such animal is allowed at large shall be considered a separate offense. If the owner of such animal shall f ail to take it into custody after being notified to do so the said animal may be killed by any police officer who may deem it necessary for the safety of the public. Upon complaint or warrant allege Ing that a dangerous animal is being allowed to run at large in said City, or Is not being confined in such manner as to be safe for the public, the owner, or person, firm or corporation in control of such animal shall be brought before the civil and police justice of said city and after inquiry into the facts, such jus- tice shall order such animal killed by the police department or make such further disposition of the case as shall insure the future safety of the public from danger from such animal, and if such owner or party in control of such animal cannot be ascertained, then such animal shall be taken into custody by the police department and tried and disposed of as hereinbefore provided just as if the owner or party In control of such animal were present. Brown, Watson, Volaris and Twyman; Clerk Signature President Signature SECTION 288 OF THE CITY CODE OF 1909 ENTITLED 'BILLIARD SALOONS, POOL ROOMS, ETC,' AMENDED". Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 288 of the City Code of 1909 be amended and re -ordained so as to road as follows: SECTION 288. BILLIARD SALOONS, POOL ROOMS, MTNIATURE GOLF COURSES, ETC. --REGULATIONS CONCERNING. All billiard saloons, pool rooms, bowling alleys, and shooting galleries shall be closed evory night during the week not later than 11 o'clock and remain closed until 7 o' clock the following morning, Miniature Golf Courses shall be closed from Midnight to 7 o'clock the following morning. No gambling, betting, or gambling devises of any kind whatsoever shall be per - witted at any time at any of the places named in this section, Violations of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than $5.00
