SECTION 24 OF BUILDING CODE ENTITLED "EXITS REQUIRED" AMENDED:

<br />BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 24 of the
<br />
<br />Building Code entitled "Exits Required" be amended by the addition of the
<br />
<br />following sub -section:
<br />
<br />(g) All stairways, fire escapes, elevator shafts, and similar appurtenances
<br />
<br />which may hereafter be constructed, which are used or designed to be used In
<br />
<br />whole or in part, by the tenants of any residential building or property within
<br />
<br />the A District as defined by the Building Zone Map, as a regular or supplrmen-
<br />
<br />tary means of ingress or egress; except as an additional means of egress during
<br />
<br />a conflagration, flood, panic, or other disaster; shall be wholly and entirely
<br />
<br />inclosed within the walls of the building. This does not apply to entrances on
<br />
<br />the rear of buildings.

<br />PROTECTION OF THE BOOKS AND OTHER PROPERTY IN THE CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY AND TO
<br />
<br />PUNISH ALL WHO SHALL WILFULLY REMOVE THE SAME THEREFROM OR WHO SHALL FAIL TO RETURN
<br />
<br />SAME AFTER RECEIVING NOTICE FROM THE LIBRARIAN.
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that:
<br />
<br />Any person who wilfully, maliciously, or wantonly writes upon, injures, defaces, teras, cuts
<br />
<br />or destroys any book, plat, picture, engraving, map, newspaper, magazine, pamphlet, manuscript,
<br />
<br />or other property belonging to the City Public Library y or wilfully and without authority removes
<br />
<br />any book or other property from the City Public Library shall be punished by a fine of rot less
<br />
<br />than $2,50 or more than $100,00
<br />
<br />Any pf-rson having in his possession any book or other propertyof the City Public Library
<br />
<br />which he shall fail to return within one week after receiving notice in writing from the librar-
<br />
<br />ian shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $25,00; but if such book shall be lost or des-
<br />
<br />troyed sneh person may, within two weeks, after being notified to return said book, pay to the
<br />
<br />City Librarian the value of such book, the value to be determined by the
<br />
<br />Library Board.

<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING AN ORDINANCE ADOPTED JUNE 8, 1928.
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that the Ordinance entitled
<br />
<br />"An Ordinance To Direct the Location of Buildings for Storing toting Explosive or Combustible Substances
<br />
<br />and to Prohibit the Sale of Kerosene Oil, Gasoline, Benzine or Naphta in Resides Sections in the
<br />
<br />Fire Limits and Congested Fire Limits of the City of Charlottesville
<br />
<br />as defined in the existing
<br />
<br />ordinances", adopted June 8, 1928, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that it shall
<br />
<br />be unlawful within the area in Charlottesville known as fire limits and congested
<br />
<br />fire limits of the City of Charlottesville, as described in existing ordinances,
<br />
<br />to store for sale, keep for sale, or sell upon any lot within 100 feet of any
<br />
<br />building used solely for residence purposes, dynamite, kerosene
<br />
<br />gasoline, bengine or naphtha. This ordinance shall not apply to building's in
<br />
<br />or lots upon which tanks are now installed or to gasoline filling stations on Main Street.

<br />Any violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be punished
