2. The member of said Board to be selected by the City as aforesaid, <br /> <br />shall be appointed by the City Council, and shall hold office until September <br /> <br />1st, 1936, and shall be elected thereafter for a term of two years, and the <br /> <br />other members of said City Board shall hold office so long as they, or their <br /> <br />successors, shall remain members of the Joint Health Board. <br /> <br />3. The said Board shall exercise, perform and carry out all the powers, <br /> <br />duties and obligations now or hereafter prescribed by this Code or State law <br /> <br />which pertain to Public Health and Sanitation. <br /> <br />4. Such officers, agents, and employees as said Board shall appoint in <br /> <br />pursuance of the aforesaid contract of May 29th, 1936, shall have all the powers <br /> <br />and shall perform all the duties, now or hereafter prescribed by City ordinance <br /> <br />or State law which pertain to Public Health and Sanitation. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its passage, <br /> <br />and all ordinances, or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council May 29, 1936. <br /> <br />Ayes: Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, Mr. Jessup, & <br /> <br />Mr. Twyman. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br />Clerk Signature <br /> <br />President Signature <br /> <br />ANNUAL TAX LEVY IMPOSING TAXES ON PERSONS AND PROPERTY FOR THE PAYMENT <br /> <br />OF INTEREST ON THE CITY DEBT, FOR CREATING A SINKING FUND THEREFOR, <br /> <br />FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT AND CITY SCHOOLS, AND <br /> <br />FOR OTHER PURPOSES. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that for the year <br /> <br />beginning on the first day of January, 1936, and ending the thirty-first day of December, <br /> <br />1936, and each year thereafter while this ordinance is in force, the taxes on persons <br /> <br />and property for local purposes shall be as follows: <br /> <br />GENERAL LEVY: <br /> <br />1. Land, Lots and Buildings. <br /> <br />On tracts of land and lots and improvements thereon not exempt from taxation, <br /> <br />there shall be a tax of $1.05 (one dollar and five cents) on every $100.00 assessed <br /> <br />value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the City government and to <br /> <br />pay the interest and sinking fund on the City debt other than schools, and there shall <br /> <br />be levied an additional tax on every $100.00 assessed value of $0.23 (twenty-three <br /> <br />cents) to pay the interest and sinking fund on school bonds and $0.62 (sixty-two <br /> <br />cents) for the city schools. <br /> <br />2. Tangible Personal Property. <br /> <br />Upon all tangible personal property as defined by State Tax Law, not exempt from <br /> <br />taxation, there shall be a tax of $1.05 (one dollar and five cents) on every $100.00 <br /> <br />assessed value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the City government <br /> <br />and to pay the interest and sinking fund on the City debt other than schools, and <br /> <br />there shall be levied an additional tax on every $100.00 assessed value thereof of <br /> <br />$0.23 (twenty-three cents) to pay the interest and sinking fund on the school bonds <br /> <br />and $0.62 (sixty-two cents) for the maintenance and operating of the City schools. <br /> <br />3.
