x_61 <br />2. The member of said Board to be selected by the City as aforesaid, <br />shall be appointed by the City Council, and shall hold office until September <br />1st, 1936, and shall be elected thereafter for a term of two years, and the <br />other members of said City Board shall hold office so long as they, or their <br />successors, shall remain members of the Joint Health Board. <br />3. The said Board shall exercise, perform and carry out all the powers, <br />duties and obligations now or hereafter prescribed by this Code or State law <br />which pertain to Public Health and Sanitation. <br />4. Such officers, agents, and employees as said Board shall appoint in <br />pursuance of the aforesaid contract of May 29th, 1936, shall have all the powers <br />ana shall perform all the duties, now or hereafter prescribed by City ordinance <br />or State law which pertain to Public Health and Sanitation. <br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its passage, <br />and all ordinances, or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br />Adopted by the Council May 29, 1936. <br />"yes: Dr. Haden, Bir. Huff, Mr. Jessup, & <br />Mr. Twyman. <br />Noes: None. <br />-T Clerk Presiaent <br />ANNUAL TAX LEVY IMPOSING TAXES ON PERSONS AND PROPERTY FOR THE PAYMENT <br />OF INTEREST ON THE CITY DEBT, FOR CREATING A SINKING FUND THEREFOR, <br />FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT AND CITY SCHOOLS, AND <br />FOR OTHER PURPOSES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that for the year <br />beginning on the first day of January, 1936, and ending the thirty-first day of December, <br />1936, and each year thereafter while this ordinance is in force, the taxes on persons <br />and property for local purposes shall be as follows: <br />GENERAL LEVY: <br />1. Land, Lots and Buildings. <br />On tracts of land and lots and improvements thereon not exempt from taxation, <br />there shall be a tax of $1.05 (one dollar and five cents] on every $100.00 assessed <br />value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the City government and to <br />pay the interest and sinking fund on the City debt other than schools, and there shall <br />be levied an additional tax on every $100.00 assessed value of $0.23 (twenty-three <br />cents to pay the interest and sinking fund on school bonds and $0.62 (sixty-two <br />cents for the city schools. <br />2. Tangible Personal Property. <br />Upon all tangible personal property as defined by State Tax Law, not exempt from <br />taxation, there shall be a tax of $1.05 (one dollar and five cents) on every $100.00 <br />assessed value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the City government <br />and to pay the interest and sinking fund on the City debt other than schools, and <br />there shall be levied an additional tax on every $100.00 assessed value thereof of <br />$0.23 (twenty-three cents) to pay the interest and sinking fund on the school bonds <br />and $0.62 (sixty-two cents) for the maintenance and operating of the City schools. <br />3. Other property. <br />Upon any tangible personal property not included in the foregoing, which is not <br />exempt from local taxation, the tax shall bP 91.05 (one dollar and five cents) on <br />every $100.00 assessed value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the <br />City government and to pay the interest and sinking fund on the City Debt other than <br />schools, and there shall be levied an additional tax on every $100.00 assessed value <br />thereof of ?0.23 twenty-three cents) to pay the interest and sinking fund on the <br />school bonds and 0.62 (sixty-two cents) for the maintenance and operating of the <br />' City schools. <br />All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br />Adopted by the Council June 27, 1936- <br />Ayes: Dr. Hade , r.
