SEC. 316-A. PRISONERS - LIMITATION OF CONFINEMENT FOR FAILURE TO PAY <br /> <br />FINE AND COSTS. <br /> <br />If any person is confined in jail until his fine and costs, or costs <br /> <br />where there is no fine, are paid, such confinement shall not exceed ten days <br /> <br />when the fine and costs, or costs where there is no fine, are less than $5.00; <br /> <br />when less than $10.00 it shall not exceed twenty days; when less than $25.00 <br /> <br />it shall not exceed one month; when less than $50.00 it shall not exceed two <br /> <br />months, and in no case shall the confinement exceed three months. <br /> <br />SEC. 317-A. RULES AND REGULATIONS - CITY JAILOR. <br /> <br />1. The City Jailor shall keep such records and make such reports as are <br /> <br />or may be required, by the general law, the City Manager or the City Auditor. <br /> <br />All reports required by general law shall be made under the supervision of <br /> <br />the City Auditor and shall be submitted to the City Manager. <br /> <br />2. No expense shall be incurred by the City Jailor without the approval <br /> <br />of the City Manager, and all purchases and other costs necessary for the <br /> <br />operation of the City Jail shall be made in accordance with Chapter IX (Sec. 64- <br /> <br />66. of the City Code. <br /> <br />3) The City Jailor shall efficiently operate the City Jail in accordance <br /> <br />with such suggestions and recommendations as the City Manager may make from time <br /> <br />to time. <br /> <br />4. The Health Officer shall at least once a month inspect the jail and <br /> <br />make report of same to the City Manager. <br /> <br />5. No person shall be committed into the custody of the City Jailor by <br /> <br />the Civil and Police Justice except upon written order of the Civil and Police <br /> <br />Justice or Chief of Police showing an indorsement thereon by the City Auditor <br /> <br />stating that a true copy of the original order has been delivered to him, <br /> <br />nor shall any such person be released from the custody of the City Jailor <br /> <br />except upon a like order and indorsement. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its passage, and <br /> <br />all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council November 2, 1936. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, <br /> <br />Mr. Jessup & Mr. Twyman. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br />Clerk Signature <br />President Signature <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 495 (1) OF THE <br /> <br />ZONING ORDINANCE ENTITLED "DISTRICTS". <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 495 (1) <br /> <br />of the City Code of 1932 entitled "Districts", as well as the plat therein referred to, be <br /> <br />amended as follows: <br /> <br />CHANGE NO. 3. <br /> <br />All of that area within the following boundaries is changed from A-1 <br /> <br />Residence and B-1 Business Districts to B-2 Business Districts: <br /> <br />Beginning at the Northeast corner of the intersection of 10th and West <br /> <br />Streets, thence along the eastern margin of 10th Street in a Northerly direction <br /> <br />a distance of 691 feet to the Southeast corner of the intersection of Preston <br /> <br />Avenue and 10th Street, thence along the Southern margin of Preston Avenue in <br /> <br />an Easterly direction 333 feet to the Southwest corner of the intersection of <br /> <br />Preston Avenue and Wood Street, thence along the Western margin of Wood Street <br /> <br />in a Southerly direction 540 feet to the Northwest corner of the intersection of <br /> <br />Wood and West Streets, thence along the Northern margin of West Street in a Westerly <br /> <br />direction a distance of 300 feet to the point of beginning. <br /> <br />The boundaries of the said area in which the aforesaid change is made being <br /> <br />as shown on the plat entitled "Plat Showing Change No. 3 of the Original Zoning <br /> <br />Ordinance Map Adopted by the Council of the City of Charlottesville on June 17, <br /> <br />1929", signed by the Mayor, Clerk of the Council, and City Manager, dated <br /> <br />January 21, 1937, which plat is attached to the original Building Zone Map above <br /> <br />referred to and is hereby declared to be a part of this ordinance. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its passage and <br /> <br />all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council January 21, 1937. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Twyman. <br /> <br />Noes: None.
