A <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 21 CHAPTER 33 <br />OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 ENTITLED 11BOARD OF ZONING <br />APPEALS - COSTS" <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 21 <br />Chapter 33 of Charlottesville City Code be ana the same is hereby amended and re- <br />enacted so as to read as follows: <br />Section 21. BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS.- COSTS. <br />A board of zoning appeals is hereby established. It shall consist of five <br />members to be appointed, and exercise such powers as provided by the laws of <br />the state. <br />In addition to the requirements of the state law relative to an appeal <br />from a decision of the building inspector to the board of zoning appeals, <br />every such appellant, before deliveringa notice of appeal to said board, shall <br />pay the sum of ten dollars as costs to the Director of Finance, who shall note <br />on said notice that the amount required has been paid. <br />Each member of the board of zoning appeals shall be allowed a fee of <br />five dollars for each meeting attended by such member, which shall be paid by <br />the City Treasurer upon presentation of proper voucher, after being approved <br />by the Director of Finance. <br />Adopted by the Council April 1, 1946. <br />Ayes: Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, Hildreth, <br />and atson. <br />Noes: No <br />LIT, <br />D4_��__ - <br />President <br />ANNUAL TAX LEVY IMPOSING TAXES ON PERSONS AND PROPERTY FOR THE <br />PAYMENT OF INTEREST ON THE CITY DEBT, FOR CREATING A SINKING FUND THERE- <br />FOR, FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT AND CITY SCHOOLS, AND FOR <br />OTHER PURPOSES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that for the year <br />beginning on the first day of January, 19.6, and ending the thirty-first day of <br />December, 1946, and each year thereafter while this ordinance is in force, the <br />taxes on persons and property for local purposes shall be as follows; <br />GENERAL LEVY: <br />1. Land, Lots, and Buildings. <br />On tracts of land and lots and improvements thereon, not exempt from <br />taxation, there shall be a tax of $1.00 (one dollar) on every X100.00 assessed <br />value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the City Government <br />and to pay the interest and sinking fund on the City debt other than schools, <br />and there shall be levied an additional tax on every $100.00 assessed value <br />of $0.23 (twenty-three cents) to pay the interest and sinking fund on school <br />bonds and $1.02 (one dollar and two cents) for the maintenance and operating <br />of the City schools. <br />2. Tangible Personal Property. <br />Upon all tangible personal property as defined by State Tax Law, not <br />exempt from taxation, there shall be a tax of $1.00 (one dollar) on every <br />$100.00 assessed value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of the <br />City government and to pL*, the interest and sinking fund on the City debt <br />other than schools, and there shall be levied an additional tax on every <br />$100.00 assessed value thereof of $0.23 (twenty-three cents) to pay the <br />interest and sinking fund on the school bonds and X1.02 (one dollar and two <br />cents) for the maintenance and operating of the City schools. <br />3. Other Property. <br />Upon any tangible personal property not included in the foregoing, which <br />is not exempt from local taxation, the tax shall be X1.00 (one dollar) on <br />every $100.00 assessed value thereof to pay the general operating expenses of <br />the City government and to pay the interest and sinking fund on the City debt <br />other than schools, and there shall be levied an additional tax on every w100.00 <br />assessed value thereof of x;0.23 (twenty-three cents) to pay the interest and <br />sinking fund on the school bonds and y$1.02 (one dollar and two cents) for the <br />maintenance and operating of the City schools. <br />Adopted by the Council April 30, 1946. <br />Ayes: Mr. Adams �'.
