AN <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROV.tNG 'XN INCREASE IN FARE AS PROVIDED <br />BY AN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE RIGHT TO OPERATE BUSSES <br />FOR TRANSPORTATION ON CERTAIN STREETS IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />VIRGINIA, TO CHARLOTTESVILLE AND ALBEtv1ARLE BUS COMPANY <br />MAY ?, 1945 <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT, <br />APPLICATION HAVING BEEN MADE BY CHARLOTTESVILLE AND ALBEMARLE BUS COMPANY <br />FOR AN INCREASE IN THE FARE TO BE CHARGED FOR PASSAGE ON BUSSES OPERATED IN <br />THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE PURSUANT TO AN ORDINANCE ADOPTED BY THE COUNCIL <br />MAY 7, 1945 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE RIGHT TO OPERATE BUSSES FOR <br />THE TRANSPORTATION OF PASSENGERS ON CERTAIN STREETS OF CHARLOTTESVILLE TO <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE AND ALBEMARLE BUS COMPANY" AND IT APPEARING TO THE COUNCIL <br />THAT, DUE TO CHANGE IN CONDITIONS, OPERATION AT THE FARE ORIGINALLY PRESCRIBED <br />IN SAID ORDINANCE IS IMPRACTICABLE, FROM AND AFTER MARCH 15, 1950, THE FARE <br />FOR ONE-WAY PASSAGE OVER THE WHOLE OF ANY ROUTE ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO SUCH <br />ORDINANCE SHALL NOT EXCEED 10� IF SAID FARE IS PAID IN CASH AND SHALL NOT <br />EXCEED 6-f- IF SAID FARE IS PAID BY A TOKEN AS HEREINAFTER PROVIDED, IT BEING <br />UNDERSTOOD, HOWEVER, THAT THE FARE INCREASE HEREBY APPROVED SHALL NOT BE <br />DEEMED A PERMANENT INCREASE AND THAT THE COUNCIL SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT IF, <br />IN ITS OPINION, CHANGE IN CONDITIONS SO REQUIRE, TO REDUCE SUCH MAXIMUM <br />FARE TO THE RATE ORIGINALLY PRESCRIBED IN THE FRANCHISE ORDINANCE, OR TO <br />GRANT FURTHER INCREASE, IF, IN THE OPINION OF THE COUNCIL, SUCH INCREASE IS <br />NECESSARY. <br />THE COMPANY SHALL PROVIDE TOKENS ENTITLING THE BEARER THEREOF TO <br />ONE-WAY PASSAGE OVER THE WHOLE OF ANY ROUTE ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO SAID <br />ORDINANCE AND SHALL SELL SUCH TOKENS TO PERSON DESIRING TO PURCHASE THEM ON <br />BUSSES OPERATED BY THE COMPANY AND AT SUCH OTHER PLACES AS THE COMPANY MAY <br />SELECT AT THE RATE OF FOUR TOKENS FOR $0.25EWTTHE CUSTOMER SHALL NOT HAVE <br />THE RIGHT TO PURCHASE SUCH TOKENS EXCEPT IN MUETIPLES OF FOUR. <br />ADOPTED BY THE COUNCIL <br />MARCH 69 1950 <br />AYES: MR. TEBELL. <br />NOES: NONE <br />CLERK PRESIDENT <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING <br />SECTION 55 OF CHAPTER 299 AS AMENDED, OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />CITY CODE OF 1945 RELATING TO THE REPJ10VAL OF TRASH, GARBAGE, <br />ETC." <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT <br />SECTION 55 OF CHAPTER 29, AS AMENDED, OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 <br />BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED AND REENACTED SO AS TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 55, REMOVAL OF ASHES, TRASH, GARBAGE, ETC. BY THE CITY. <br />ALL ASHES, GLASS, KITCHEN GARBAGE CONSITING IN WHOLE OR IN PART <br />OF FOODSTUFF, TIN CANS, OR OTHER DAMP GARBAGE MUST BE DRAINED AND <br />PLACED IN A NON -LEAKING METAL CONTAINED WITH A CLOSE -FITTING TOP <br />OF NOT OVER THIRTY GALLON CAPACITY. <br />DRY TRASH SUCH AS PAPER., OLD CARTONS, WEEDS, LEAVES, BRUSH <br />OR BUSH TRIMMINGS MAY BE PLACED IN THE SAME CONTAINERS OR MAY BE <br />PLACED IN BASKETS OR BOXES, PROVIDED THE MATERIAL IS SECURED SO <br />AS TO PREVENT THE TRASH FROM BEING BLOWN THEREFROM. NEWSPAPERS <br />AND MAGAZINES MAY BE BUNDLED AND TIED. <br />
