WEINBERG. <br />NOES: NONE. <br />T_ <br />CA_w ,z <br />L K - - 0 <br />rCLERK PRESIDENT <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING CHAPTER 14 OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />CITY CODE OF 1945 AS AMENDED BY AMENDING SECTION 13(A) OF CHAPTER 14, <br />ENTITLED "STANDARDS FOR GAS APPLIANCES, INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION <br />THEREOF". 0 <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, THAT CHAPTER 14 OF THE <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945, AS AMENDED, IS HEREBY AMENDED AND RE-ENACTED BY AMENDING <br />SEC. 13(A), CHAPTER 14 ENTITLED "STANDARDS FOR GAS APPLIANCES, INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION <br />THEREOF" TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br />SEC. 13 (A) - "STANDARDS FOR GAS APPLIANCES, INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION THEREOF". <br />NO GAS APPLIANCES SHALL. BE SOLD OR INSTALLED IN THIS CITY WHICH DOES NOT CONFORM TO <br />APPROVED STANDARDS FOR SAFETY TO PERSONS AND PROPERTY. APPROVAL AND/OR LISTING OF AN APPLIANCE <br />BY THE TESTING LABORATORIES OF THE AMERICAN GAS ASSOCIATION OR THE AMERICAN STANDARDS ASSOCIATION <br />SHALL BE PRIMA FACIE EVIDENCE THAT THE APPLIANCE CONFORMS TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS ORDINANCE, • <br />AND LACK OF WHICH APPROVAL OR LISTING SHALL BE PRESUMPTIVE EVIDENCE THAT THE APPLIANCE DOES NOT <br />CONFORM TO APPROVED STANDARDS FOR SAFETY TO PERSONS AND PROPERTY, <br />ALL WORK OF INSTALLING, CHANGING, ALTERING OR REPAIRING GAS SERVICE CONNECTIONS, <br />PIPES, FIXTURES, EQUIPMENT AND APPLIANCES SHALL BE DONE ONLY BY A MASTER PLUMBER OR A MASTER <br />GAS FITTER, OR BY A QUALIFIED MECHANIC EMPLOYED BY THEM AND WORKING UNDER THEIR IMMEDIATE SUPER- <br />VISION, OR BY THE CITY GAS DEPARTMENT. <br />IT SHALL BE THE DUTY OF EACH MASTER PLUMBER OR MASTER GAS FITTER TO SECURE A PERMIT FROM <br />THE PLUMBING INSPECTOR PRIOR TO THE INSTALLATION OF AN AUTOMATIC GAS WATER HEATER. THE PERMIT <br />FEE FOR EACH SUCH APPLIANCE INSTALLED SHALL BE 11.25. <br />ANY PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION VIOLATING THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION SHALL, BE FINED NOT <br />LESS THAN $5.00 NOR MORE THAN $25.00 FOR EACH OFFENSE. <br />THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS PASSAGE. • <br />ADOPTED BY THE COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 2, 1953 <br />AYES: MR.
