AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RF_ -ENACTING <br />SECTION 62 OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 19aG, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT SECTION 62 OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 ENTITLED "RESTRICTIONSAS TO TIRE. EQUIPMENT„, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY <br />AyFNDED AND RE—ENACTED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 62 — "RESTRICTIOP6 AS TO EQUIPMENT TRAVELING UPON STREETS." <br />NO VEHICLE, TRACTOR, MOTORIZED SHOVEL, TRACTION ENGINE, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF MOTORIZED EQU1PmFNT, <br />OTHER THAN A RFOULATION ROAD ROLLER OR A STANDARD FARM WAGON WITH SMOOTH WHEEL COVERING_, MAY TRAVEL OR <br />OPERATE UPON ANY PAVED STREET IN THE CITY, SO AS TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE STREET SURFACE, UNLESS ITS <br />WHEELS ARE EQUIPPED WITH PNEUMATIC TYPE RUBBER TIRES, OR UNLESS A SPECIAL PERMIT SHALL HAVE BEEN <br />OBTAINED FROM THE CITY MANAGER. <br />ADOPTED eY THE COUNCIL <br />MARCH 18, 1957 <br />AYES: MR. WEINBERG. <br />NOES: NONE <br />LERK PRES IDENT <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE—ENACTING <br />SECTION 121.75 OF THE BUILDING CGDE OF <br />THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, AS AMENDED. <br />BE IT ORDAINED B-Y•THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT SECTION 121.75 OF THE BUILDING <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, AS AMENDED, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED AND RE—ENACTED TO <br />READ AS FOLL-OWS : <br />SECTION 121.75 — "ROOF AND GROUND SIGNS." <br />NO GROUND SIGN SItALL BE ERFCTED NEARER TO THF STREET LOT LINE THAN THE DISTANCE FROM THE GROUND <br />TO THE TOP OF THE SIGN, UNLESS SUCH SIGN CONFORMS TO SECTION 1.21.6 FOR BOND OR LIABILITY INSURANCE. <br />IN THE RESTRICTED FIRE DISTRICT, ALL GROUND SIGNS MUST BE CONSTRUCTED OF METAL OR OTHER <br />INCOMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS, <br />GROUND AND ROOF SIGNS SHALL NOT EXCEED 2C0 SQUARE FEET IN AREA. THE TOP OF ANY GROUND SIGN <br />SHALL NOT BE MORE THAN THIRTY (3Ci FEET IN HEIGHT ABOVE THE GROUND AND ROOF SIGNS SHALL NOT EXCEFD <br />TWENTY (2C) FEET IN HEIGHT FROM THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING TO THE TOP OF THE SIGN. ROOF SIGNS SHALL <br />NOT BE ERECTED NEARER THAN TFhl (1C) FEET TO THE PROPERTY LINE. ONLY ONE SUCH SIGN MAY BE ERECTED <br />ON ANY PROPERTY EXCEPT THAT TWO SUCH SIGNS MAY PE FRECTED EACK—TO—BACK AND JOINED TOGETHER AND NOT <br />MORE THAN THREE (3) FEET APART AT ANY ONE POINT. <br />ROOF SIGNS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH All! ELECTRIC GROUND FOR ALL MFTALLIC PARTS. ALL WIRING 4ND <br />TUBING SHALL BE KEPT FREE AND SHALL BE INSULATED THEREFROM. ALL SUCH SIGNS SHALL MAINTAIN A. <br />DISTANCE OF NOT LESS THAN FIVE (5) FEET FROM THE ROOF LEVEL EXCEPT FOR NECESSARY STRUCTURAL <br />SUPPORTS. <br />CLERK <br />ADOPTED BY THE COUNCIL <br />MAY 6, 1957 <br />AYES: MR. COLEMAN ABSENT AT THIS <br />TIME) <br />PRESIDENT <br />ANNUAL TAX LEVY IMPOSING TAXES ON PERSONS AND PROPERTY FOR THE <br />PAYMENT OF INTEREST ON THE CITY DEBT, FOR CREATING A SINKING <br />FUND THEREFOR, FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT AND CITY <br />SCHOOLS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT FOR THE YEAR BEGINNING ON THE FIRST DAY <br />OF JANUARY, 1957, AND ENDING THE THIRTY—FIRST DAY OF DECEMBER, 19579 AND EACH YEAR THEREAFTER WHILE THIS ORDINANCE <br />IS IN FORCE, THE TAXES ON PERSONS AND PROPERTY FOR LOCAL PURPOSES SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS: <br />GENERAL LEVY: <br />1. LAND, LOTS AND BUILDINGS. <br />ON TRACTS OF LAND AND LOTS AND IMPROVEMENTS THEREON, NOT EXEMPT FROM TAXATION, THERE SHALL BE A TAX <br />OF $0.97 (NINETY—SEVEN CENTS) ON EVERY $100.00 ASSESSED VALUE THEREOF TO PAY THE GENERAL OPERATING <br />EXPENSES OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT AND TO PAY THE INTEREST AND SINKING FUND ON THE CITY DEBT OTHER THAM <br />SCHOOLS, AND THERE SHALL BE LEVIED AN ADDITIONAL TAX ON EVERY $1CO.00 ASSESSED VALUE OF $0.36 (THIRTY— <br />EIGHT CENTS) TO PAY THE INTEREST AND SINKING FUND ON SCHOOL BONDS AND $1.65 (ONE DOLLAR AND SIXTY—FIVE <br />CENTS) FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATING OF THE CITY SCHOOLS. <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />
