§ 16A-81 CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE § 16A-84 <br />Sec. 16A-81. Motor freight terminals. <br />Every person maintaining or operating in the city any <br />freight terminal for the purpose of receiving or discharging <br />freight carried or to be carried by any motor vehicle freight <br />carrier shall pay a specific license tax of two hundred and <br />fifty dollars. (4-7-69, § 58.) <br />Sec. 16A-82. Outside agents. <br />Any person residing or having his principal office within <br />the state who is not a licensed merchant in the city who shall <br />sell or offer to sell, either direct or by sample card or repre- <br />sentation, or who shall solicit or take orders for the sale of <br />any goods, wares or merchandise to any purchaser within the <br />city, except to a licensed merchant shall pay for the privilege <br />a license tax on gross sales so made during the preceding cal- <br />endar year as follows: <br />If the amount of such gross sales shall not exceed two thou- <br />sand dollars the tax shall be twenty-five dollars. <br />On all such gross sales over two thousand dollars the tax <br />shall be thirty cents on each one hundred dollars in excess of <br />two thousand dollars. (4-7-69, § 60.) <br />Sec. 16A-83. Pawnbrokers. <br />On every license to a pawnbroker the specific license tax <br />shall be five hundred dollars for one year or fractional part <br />thereof. This license is not transferable. (4-7-69, § 61.) <br />Sec. 16A-84. Peddlers—Generally. <br />Any person who shall carry from place to place, any goods, <br />wares or merchandise, and offer to sell or barter the same, or <br />actually sell or barter the same, shall be deemed a peddler, <br />and any person licensed as a peddler may sell, or he may ex- <br />change the same for other articles. <br />A peddler's license shall not be transferable, and any person <br />so licensed shall endorse his name on the license, and such li- <br />cense shall confer authority to sell within the city. <br />Any peddler who shall peddle for sale or sell or barter with- <br />out a license shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and on convic- <br />tion thereof shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars, <br />and not more than one hundred dollars for each offense; and <br />238.30 <br />Supp. # 12, 8-69 <br />• <br />• <br />0 <br />0 <br />
