RIGID CONDUIT AND ENTRANCE CABLE SERVICE <br />ALL NEW BUILDINGS AND ALL OLD BUILDINGS BEING REWIRED IN THE CITY SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH A RIGID <br />CONDUIT SERVICE; PROVIDED, THAT IN BUILDINGS OF FOUR OR LESS DWELLING UNITS, A SERVICE ENTRANCE CABLE <br />MAY BE USED IF THE CABLE MEETS ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE AND UNDERWRITERS' <br />LABORATORIES, INC., AND IF: <br />(1) THE CABLE IS INSTALLED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING, AND <br />(2) DOES NOT EXTEND BEYOND THE FIRST METER, AND <br />(3) IS SUPPORTED BY APPROVED SERVICE CABLE STRAPS PLACED AT INTERVALS NOT EXCEEDING TWENTY-FOUR <br />INCHES APART AND WITHIN TWELVE INCHES OF THE WEATHERHEAD AND METER SOCKET. <br />WHEN ANY NEW ELECTRICAL WIRING, FIXTURES OR OUTLETS ARE ADDED IN ANY EXISTING BUILDING OR DWELLING <br />UNIT IN ORDER TO MEET THE STANDARDS SET FORTH IN CHAPTER 15.1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />OR FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE, THE INCOMING ELECTRICAL SERVICES THAT WILL BE USED TO SERVE SUCH BUILDING OR <br />DWELLING UNIT MUST BE SIZED TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE MOST RECENT EDITION OF THE NATIONAL <br />ELECTRICAL CODE AND THIS CHAPTER CHAPTER 10) EVEN IF IT IS NECESSARY TO INSTALL ONE OR MORE NEW <br />SERVICES. <br />
