I' / <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />To provide for the extension of the corporate limits of <br />the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, pursuant to the provisions <br />of Article 1, Chapter 25, Title 15.1 of the Code of Virginia, by <br />annexation of certain territory in Albemarle County; to declare <br />the policy with respect thereto; to set forth the necessity and <br />expediency thereof; to define the metes and bounds and area of <br />the territory sought to be annexed; to show on maps annexed to <br />this ordinance information indicating generally existing sub- <br />divisions, industrial areas, farm areas, vacant areas and other <br />land use; to set forth the effect thereof on said County and <br />its ability adequately to support the County governments and <br />public schools; and to prescribe the general terms and condi- <br />tions upon which annexation is sought and provisions planned <br />for future management and improvement of the annexed territory. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA: <br />§ 1. That the Council of the City of Charlottesville, a <br />municipal corporation of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hereby de- <br />clares that the City of Charlottesville desires to annex certain <br />territory in Albemarle County adjacent to the corporate limits of <br />the City in order to preserve and promote the general welfare of <br />the metropolitan area of which the City of Charlottesville and <br />the said County are a part, and the safety, health, peace, <br />prosperity, good order, comfort and convenience of the inhabitants <br />
