NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED that a public hearing on the proposed change of lots thirty-four (34) .9, thirty-five (35) and thirty-five (a) (35a) in subdivision known as University Circle from A-1 Residence to A Residence District, be held on July 7, 1947 at 3:00 oclock P. M. in the Council Chamber in the City Hall, Charlottesville, Virginia, and that notice of said hear- ing be published in the Charlottesville Daily Progress pursuant to the terms of the zoning ordinance. The Mayor advised that he had appointed Mr. Fred Watson, Mr. J. Emmett Architect Committee - Gleason, Mr. Charles ?. Nash, and Mr. Jas. E. Bowen, Jr., as a committee to work Joint Colored High School with a committee from the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County in the matter of employing an architect for the proposed joint city -county colored high school. A communication from the City Manager recommending that the application for County Water a county water connection of J. Russell Kirchoff on Monticello Mountain be denied, Connection Denied was presented. On motion by LvIr. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Tebell, the foregoing recommendation was unanimously adopted. On motion the meeting adjourned. erk President COUNCIL CHAMBER, JUNE 16, 1947 The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Adams, "Zr. Gleason, Mr. Nash, Mr. Tebell, and Mr. Watson. Minutes of the 'Meeting of June 3, 1947, were read and approved. Mr. E. C. Barnett and others addressed the Council and presented a petition Filling opposing the application of Marks Store for a permit to operate a filling station Station - Avon St. on Avon Street. On motion this matter was ccrried over to the next meeting for consideration. Cllr. Clark Lindsay, Chairman of the Teen -Age Club Adult Advisory Board, ad- dressed the Council and presented a communication from the Board requesting that the Teen -Age Club be permitted to transfer their club rooms from the old Armory Teen -Age Canteen to the lower floor of the Midway School Building. He explained that certain repairs would have to be made, however, before the rooms could be used and re - requested that an appropriation be :Wade to cover this work. The City Manager estimated the cost of the necessary repairs to be approximately "2,000.00. On motion by Mr. Nash, seconded by Mr. Tebell, the following resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration: BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that w2,000.00 or as much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated for repairs to the lover floor of the Midway School Building in accordance with the foregoing request. Mr. `d`e. 0. Fife, Attorney, addressed the Council and presented a petition requesting that certain improvements be made in the Fifeville area. On motion Fifeville this matter was referred to Mr. Nash and Mr. Gleason for investigation and report. A committee from the School Board addressed the Council and recuested that the Council lend the School Board the sum of 618 000.00 so as to enable them to build Lane High concrete seats and toilet facilities on the Lane Athletic Field. They estimated Stadium the total cost to be approximately $29,000.00, and they explained 0 f 1 F_J •
