WATSON. <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JANUARY 19, 1948 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />MR. ELMER BURRUS ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED THAT HE BE GIVEN COUNTY <br />ON FARISH STREET IN ACCORDANCE WITH 'HE FOREGOING RECOPAMENDAT I ON. <br />GAS RATES ON MOTION BY MR. NASH, SECONDED BY %1R. WATSON, THE MATTER OF ADJUSTING GAS <br />RATES WAS REFERRED TO THE GAS COMMITTEE FOR INVESTIGATION AND REPORT. <br />• A COMMUNICATION FROM POLICEMAN W. S. KENNEDY STATING THAT HE WAS INJURED WHILE <br />ON DUTY ON DECEMBER 28, 1947, WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY NECESSITATED A HERNIA OPERATION, <br />A <br />WATER AND SEWER CONNECTIONS TO SERVE A PROPOSED APARTMENT HOUSE TO BE BUILT OUTSIDE <br />ELMER <br />THE CITY LIMITS JUST OFF PARK STREET. HE EXPLAINED THAT APPROXIMATELY FIFTMEN UNITS <br />BURRUS <br />WATER & <br />WOULD BE BUILT INSIDE THE CITY AND EIGHTY-FIVE UNITS OUTSIDE THE CITY. ON MOTION <br />SEWER <br />CONNECTIONS <br />BY MR. WATSON, SECONDED BY MR. NASH, THIS MATTER WAS CARRIED OVER FOR CONSIDERATION. <br />MR. GEORGE B. WATSON, THE MAYOR AND CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br />JOINT <br />WERE AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE AND UNIVERSITY OF <br />HEALTH <br />CONTRACT <br />VIRGINIA FOR THE OPERATION OF THE JOINT HEALTH DEPARTMENT. <br />THE RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $79450.00 FOR REPAIRS TO THE ROOFS ON THE BUILDINGS <br />APPROP. FOR <br />REPAIRS TO <br />AT THE GAS PLANT, WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE LAST REGULAR MEETING, WAS ADOPTED BY THE <br />ROOFS AT <br />GAS PLANT <br />FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE. AYES: MR. ADAMS, %11R.
