WITH ALL MEMBERS PRESENT. 0 <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE FOR IMPOSING AND COLLECTING <br />LICENSES AND TAXES FOR THE EXERCISE OF CERTAIN PRIVILEGES WITHIN <br />THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE FOR TWELVE MONTHS, COMMENCING THE FIRST <br />ORDINANCE RE: <br />LICENSE TAXES CARRIED DAY OF MAY, 1950, AND ENDING THE THIRTIETH DAY OF APRIL, 1951," <br />OVER. <br />WAS OFFERED BY MR. HADEN, SECONDED BY MR. HAMM, READ, AND CARRIED <br />OVER FOR CONSIDERATION* <br />ON MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED* <br />CLERK PRESIDENT <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER — MARCH 6, 1950 <br />THE COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON THIS DATE WITH THE • <br />FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT: MR. ADAMS, MR. BARR, MR. HADEN, MR. HAMM, <br />AND MR. TEBELL. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS OF FEBRUARY 20, 1950 AND FEBRUARY <br />279 1950 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />MR. W. H. STONEBURNER, OF THE STATE FORESTER'S OFFICE, ADDRESSED <br />THE COUNCIL WITH REFERENCE TO AN INSPECTION MADE IN CONJUNCTION WITH <br />THE CITY ENGINEER OF THE PHYSICAL CONDITION OF TREES BORDERING <br />ADDRESS RE: <br />TREES BORDERING BARRACKS ROAD. MR. STONEBURNER STATED THAT THE INSPECTION REVEALED <br />BARRACKS ROAD <br />CERTAIN OF THESE TREES TO HAVE ABOUT ONE-HALF THE SUPPORT THEY WOULD <br />NORMALLY REQUIRED AND, IN HIS OPINION, PRESENTED A CONDITION WHICH <br />IS DETRIMENTAL AND HAZARDOUS TO THE GENERAL WELFARE. THE COUNCIL <br />THANKED MR. STONEBURNER FOR HIS INTEREST IN THIS MATTER. <br />MR. E. C. W I NGF I ELD, ATTORNEY, ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL WITH <br />OF THE STREET PROPER AND THAT THE DRAIN BE RAISED TO THE SURFACE <br />REFERENCE TO THE LOCATION OF AN <br />ELECTRIC <br />POLE GUIDE WIRE AND THE <br />REQUEST RE: <br />• <br />ELEC. POLE GUIDE <br />CONDITION OF A STORM SEWER DRAIN <br />BOTH OF <br />WHICH ARE LOCATED 1N FRONT <br />WIRE & STORM SEWER <br />DRAIN - ROSE HILL <br />OF PROPERTY BELONGING TO DR. B. <br />A. COLES <br />ON ROSE HILL DRIVE. HE <br />DRIVE <br />WERE REFERRED TO THE CITY MANAGER <br />FOR DISPOSITION. <br />REQUESTED THAT STEPS BE TAKEN TO <br />REMOVE <br />THE GUIDE WIRE FROM OUT <br />OF THE STREET PROPER AND THAT THE DRAIN BE RAISED TO THE SURFACE <br />COMPANY. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AN INCREASE IN <br />FARE AS PROVIDED BY AN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE RIGHT TO OPERATE <br />ORDINANCE RE: BUSSES FOR TRANSPORTATION ON CERTAIN STREETS IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />BUS FRANCHISE <br />ADOPTED. VIRGINIA, TO CHARLOTTESVILLE AND ALBEMARLE BUS COMPANY ADOPTED <br />MAY 7, 194511, WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF FEBRUARY 7, 1950, <br />WAS AGAIN PRESENTED AND UPON BEING READ WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING • <br />RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR. ADAMS, MR. BARR, MR. HADEN, MR. HAMM AND <br />MR. TEBELL. NOES: NONE. (FULL TEXT OF THIS ORD. WILL BE FOUND IN <br />ORD. BK. 39 PAgE 95). <br />OF THE STREET, MR. WINGFIELD ALSO <br />ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL ON BEHALF <br />• <br />DRAINAGE OF WATER <br />OF MR. E. F. BI RCKHEAD RELATIVE TO <br />THE DRAINAGE OF WATER OVER THE <br />9TH ST. <br />REFERRED TO CITY MGR. <br />LATTER'S PROPERTY ON 9TH STREET. <br />ON MOTION THE TWO FOREGOING MATTERS <br />WERE REFERRED TO THE CITY MANAGER <br />FOR DISPOSITION. <br />MR. B. A. RENNOLDS, OF THE C <br />& A BUS COMPANY, ADDRESSED THE <br />COUNCIL AND STATED THE FARES AS SET <br />FORTH IN THE ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />C & A Bus Co. <br />ACCEPTS BUS FARES <br />THE BUS FRANCHISE ORDINANCE WERE ACCEPTABLE <br />BY THE OFFICIALS OF HIS <br />COMPANY. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AN INCREASE IN <br />FARE AS PROVIDED BY AN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE RIGHT TO OPERATE <br />ORDINANCE RE: BUSSES FOR TRANSPORTATION ON CERTAIN STREETS IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />BUS FRANCHISE <br />ADOPTED.
