ADAMS9 MR. BARRY MR. HADEN AND MR. HA10M. MR. TEBELL <br />ABSENT. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS OF MARCH 202 1950 AND MARCH 249 1950 <br />HADEN9 THAT IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING CIRCUMSTANCES THE ABOVE REQUEST BE <br />DENIED9 WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />THE FOLLOWING REPORT WAS SUBMITTED: <br />APRIL 39 1950 <br />TO THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE9 VA. <br />GENTLEMEN: <br />WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />MISS BARBARA ROSSER ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED THAT THE <br />NAMES OF STREETS IN THE ROSSER SUBDIVISION REMAIN THE SAME AS SHOWN ON <br />REQUEST RE: <br />THE ORIGINAL PLAT. THE COUNCIL ADVISED THAT IT WAS HIGHLY DESIRABLE THAT <br />• <br />NAMES OF STREETS <br />IN ROSSER SUB- <br />CONTINUOUS STREETS POSSESS THE SAME NAME 9 WHICH 9 IN THIS 1 NSTANCE 9 D I D <br />D I V I S ION <br />NOT APPEAR TO BE THE CASE. ON MOTION THE CITY MANAGER WAS REQUESTED TO <br />CONFER WITH MISS ROSSER AND OTHER PROPERTY OWNERS IN THIS AREA REGARDING <br />THE SELECTION OF SUITABLE NAMES AND A UNIFORM PLAN TO BE FOLLOWED IN THE <br />O <br />NAMING OF THESE STREETS. <br />�U <br />ON MOTION BY MR. HADEN9 SECONDED BY MR. BARRY COUNTY NATER APPLICATIONS <br />COUNTY WATER <br />FOR MR. H. V. F I ELD I NG I N MAURY H I LLS AND MR. JOHN V. GOODE ON PALAT I NE <br />APPLICATIONS <br />AVENUE WERE APPROVED. <br />- <br />ON MOTION A BILL AGAINST THE DOG FUND9IN THE SUM OF $1.76 FROM R. W. <br />DOG FUND <br />MILLERY WAS APPROVED FOR PAYMENT. <br />A COMMUNICATION FROM THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT UNDER DATE OF <br />MARCH 27, 1950, ADVISING OF THE ADOPTION BY THAT BODY OF A RESOLUTION <br />COMMUNICATION RE: <br />ROUTE #20 <br />AUTHORIZING THE RE-ROUTING OF ROUTE #20 IN CHARLOTTESVILLE WAS PRESENTED. <br />ON MOTION THE CLERK WAS INSTRUCTED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE RECEIPT OF THIS <br />COMMUNICATION* <br />THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED A LETTER FROM THE VIRGINIA LEAGUE OF <br />COMMUNICATION FROM <br />MUNICIPALITIES9 WHICH REQUESTED THE CITY9 IF IT SO DESIRED9 TO URGE THE <br />VA. LEAGUE RE: <br />VETO OF HOUSE BILL <br />GOVERNOR S VETO OF HOUSE BILL 337, PERTAINING TO STOPPING ANNEXATION. <br />337. <br />A MOTION BY MR. ADAMST SECONDED BY MR. HAMMY MR. HADEN NOW PRESIDING, <br />THAT�THE GOVERNOR BE'URGED TOIVETO HOUSE BILL 337 PENDING A STUDY AND <br />REPORT OF A COMMITTEE TO BE APPOINTED TO STUDY SAME, WAS LOST BY THE <br />FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR. ADAMS AND MR. HAFAM. NOES: MR. BARR9 AND <br />MR. HADEN. <br />A REQUEST FROM MR. E. L. MCALEXANDER ASKING THE CITY TO PROVIDE PIPE <br />FOR A DRAIN ACROSS HIS PROPERTY ON PRICE AVENUE WAS PRESENTED. THE REQUEST <br />STATED THAT THE OWNER INTENDS BUILDING ON THIS LOT AND THE PIPE IS NEEDED <br />REQUEST OF E. L. <br />MCALEXANDER <br />TO CARRY THE FLOW OF SURFACE WATER ACROSS THE PROPERTY. THE CITY MANAGER <br />DENIED <br />ADVISED THAT PRIOR TO ANNEXATION OF THIS AREA BY THE CITY9 A DRAIN HAD BEEN <br />INSTALLED UNDER PRICE AVENUE TO PERMIT THE UNINTERRUPTED FLOW OF WATER <br />FROM THE SURROUNDING AREA AND THAT THE CONTOUR OF THE LAND CREATED A NATURAL <br />DRAIN OVER THE LOT IN QUEST ION. A MOTION BY MIR. ADAMS 9 SECONDED BY MR. <br />HADEN9 THAT IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING CIRCUMSTANCES THE ABOVE REQUEST BE <br />DENIED9 WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />THE FOLLOWING REPORT WAS SUBMITTED: <br />APRIL 39 1950 <br />TO THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE9 VA. <br />GENTLEMEN: <br />
