WOOD <br />CARRIED OVER. <br />REQUEST OF CITY SGT. RE: <br />PHYSICIAN FEES <br />203 <br />ON MOTION BY MR. ADAMS, SECONDED BY MR. BARR, THE FOLLOWING <br />RESOLUTION WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR. <br />ADAMS, MR. BARR, MR. HADEN, MR. HAMM AND MR. TEBELL. NOES: NONE. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18TH BE <br />SET ASIDE AS A HOLIDAY FOR CITY OFFICES IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE 1111AYOR' S PROCLAMAT I.ON DECLARING <br />THAT DATE AS "JOHN STEWART BATTLE DAY". <br />ON MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED. <br />C7/ <br />CLERK PRESIDENT <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - JANUARY 16, 1950 <br />AFTER THE FOREGOING MINUTES HAD BEEN RECORDED IT WAS DETERMINED <br />THAT THE TWO ITEMS AT THE TOP OF PAGE 203 WERE NOT CONSIDERED IN THE <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION, AND THIS NOTATION IS HEREBY CONSIDERED A CORRECTION <br />OF THE ABOVE MINUTES. <br />CLERK <br />PRESIDENT <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - FEBRUARY 6, 1950 <br />THE COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON THIS DATE WITH THE <br />FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT: MR. ADAMS, MR. BARR, MR. HADEN, MR. HAMM <br />AND MR. TEBELL. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JANUARY 169 1950 WERE READ AND <br />APPROVED. <br />MR. TOM SHEPHERD, REPRESENTING THE AMERICAN LEGION, ADDRESSED <br />THE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED WAIVER OF THE $400.00 PER DAY LICENSE TAX <br />ON CARNIVALS. HE STATED THAT HIS ORGANIZATION PLANNED THE SHOWING <br />OF A CARNIVAL DURING THE WEEK OF MAY 8TH -13TH, AND IS TO BE <br />CONDUCTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING FUNDS FOR THE SUPPORT OF VARIOUS <br />LEGION CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES. ON MOTION THE MAYOR WAS REQUESTED TO <br />CONFER WITH THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ALBEMARLE COUNTY TO ASCERTAIN <br />THAT BODYfS FEELINGS IN THE ABOVE REQUEST AND TO REPORT AT THE NEXT <br />REGULAR MEETING. <br />A MOTION BY MR. HADEN, SECONDED BY MR. BARR, THAT THE REQUEST OF <br />MRS. IRLENE M. WOOD REGARDING TAX ON ONE -CENT VENDING MACHINES BE <br />CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING, WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED, <br />MR. L. G. HARDING, CITY SERGEANT, ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL IN <br />I\ <br />REGARD TO THE RATE NOW PAID THE JAIL PHYSICIAN FOR PRISONERS IN NEED <br />91 0 <br />OF MEDICAL CARE. HE STATED THAT THE ESTABLISHED RATE AT PRESENT IS <br />SEVENTY-FIVE (751�) FOR EACH TRIP MADE TO THE JAIL PLUS FIFTY CENTS (50)G) <br />FOR EACH ADDITIONAL PATIENT SEEN ON THE SAME TRIP, AND THAT THE <br />CURRENT ESTABLISHED RATE IS UNSATISFACTORY* ON MOT ION BY MR.
