THAT THE SUM OF $3500.00 BE APPROPRIATED FOR THE WORK <br />WIDOWS OF CONFEDERATE <br />CLEMENT5 <br />FOR CITY. OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FISCAL <br />EMMA <br />YEAR 1951-1952, AND THAT THE SUM OF $7000.00 BE RECOMMENDED <br />845 <br />FOR 1952-1953. <br />• <br />2. THAT THE PLANNING ENGINEER BE RESPONSIBLE TO THE CITY <br />L ILL 1 E <br />MANAGER. JOHN PAUL JONES, OF NORFOLK, VIRGINIA, AS PLANNING <br />MARTHA <br />ENGINEER AT A SALARY OF $5200.00 PER YEAR, EFFECTIVE <br />911 <br />1201 <br />JANUARY 169 1952. <br />WEBB, MRS. <br />DURING THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE PLANNING COM%4ISSION HAS <br />C. <br />CANVASSED THOROUGHLY THE WAYS AND MEANS OF IMPLEMENTING THE <br />WORK OF THE PLANNING COMMISSIONS THE PRESENT RECOMMENDATION WILL <br />PERMIT THE DEVELOPMENT OF A GENERAL PLAN FOR CHARLOTTESVILLE IN <br />ASERIES OF ORDERLY STAGES, EACH OF WHICH CAN BE REVIEWED AND DIS- <br />CUSSED BEFORE ADOPTION OR MODIFICATION. THE COMMISSION AFTER <br />CONSIDERING NUMEROUS ALTERNATIVES IS CONVINCED THAT SUCH A <br />PROCEDURE OFFERS MOST PROMISE FOR RESOLVING MANY OF THE PROBLEMS <br />WHICH DEVELOP IN A GROWING CITY. <br />RESPECTFULLY YOURS, <br />LORIN A.
