HILL, TH E ELK'S <br />CLUB, THE RED LAND CLUB, THE MOOSE LODGE, THE LOCAL POST OF <br />•NON-PROFIT <br />ORGANIZATIONS <br />ANIVETS, THE TEEN AGE CANTEEN, THE LIONS' CLUB AND THE OPPORTUNITY <br />EXEMPT FROM LICENSE <br />TAX <br />SHOP WERE TERMED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH <br />SECTION 86(D) OF THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE. <br />MR. DAVID J. WOOD, ATTORNEY, ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND <br />ADVISED THAT BY DEED DATED NOVEMBER 12, 1937, OF RECORD IN THE <br />CLERK'S OFFICE IN D. B. 94, P. 143, FANN 1 E L. MOSS AND HUSBAND <br />CONVEYED A SMALL STRIP OF LAND ALONG THE 'JEST SIDE OF JEFFERSON <br />REQUEST RE: <br />PARK AVENUE TO THE CITY. HE STATED THAT NO REFERENCE WAS MADE <br />LAND CONVEYED TO <br />CITY BY FANN i E L. <br />IN THE ABOVE DEED AS TO THE USE OF THIS LAND, AND HE REQUESTED <br />MOSS. <br />THAT THE CITY BY APPROPRIATE ACTION UNITE IN DEED, DATED APRIL <br />4, 1952 BETWEEN ERNEST F. WOOD AND WIFE TO GUY L. MILLER, JR., <br />TO CONFIRM THE FACT THAT SAID STRIP WAS CONVEYED FOR STREET <br />• <br />PURPOSES AND HAS BEEN DEDICATED AS SUCH. A MOTION BY MR. JUNIUS FISHBURNE, ATTORNEY, ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL ON <br />BEHALF OF THE SEVEN DAY MARKET TO PROTEST THE PROPOSED ABOLITION <br />OF PARKING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF PRESTON AVENUE NEAR ITS INTER- <br />NTER'SECTION <br />SECTIONWITH GRADY AVENUE. THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THAT SOME <br />MEANS OF TRAFFIC CONTROL AT THE INTERSECTION OF PRESTON AND <br />PROTEST RE: PARKING <br />ABOLITION ON NORTH <br />GRADY AVENUES HAD BEEN UNDER CONSIDERATION DUE TO THE GREAT AMOUNT <br />SIDE OF PRESTON AVE. <br />OF TRAFFIC CONVERGING AT THAT POINT, AND A STUDY REVEALED THAT <br />TRAFFIC LIGHTS WERE PERHAPS THE BEST SOLUTION TO A BAD <br />TRAFFIC HAZARD, THE INSTALLATION OF WHICH WOULD PROHIBIT PARKING <br />ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF PRESTON AVENUE. A MOTION, DULY MADE AND <br />SECONDED, THAT THIS MATTER BE REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMITTEE <br />FOR STUDY AND REPORT WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />ON MOTION COUNTY WATER CONNECTIONS FOR EMMETT B. GODDIN, <br />EAST MARKET STREET, N. E. STOWELL, MEADOWBROOK HEIGHTS, AND <br />COUNTY WATER <br />PIEDMONT REFRIGERATION CO., ROUGEMONT AVENUE, WERE APPROVED. <br />CONNECTIONS <br />ON MOTION COUNTY SEWER CONNECTION FOR THE PIEDMONT REFRIG- <br />COUNTY SEWER <br />ERATION CO. ON ROUGEMONT AVENUE WAS APPROVED. <br />CONNECTION <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED OF THE APPLICATION OF THE SPUR <br />DISTRIBUTING CO., NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE FOR PERMIT TO OPERATE <br />APPLICATION TO <br />OPERATE FILLING <br />A FILLING STATION AT 807-811 PRESTON AVENUES. HE EXPLAINED THAT <br />STAT 10N <br />PROPER NOTICE WAS POSTED ON THE PROPERTY ON MARCH 10, 1952 AND <br />IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 4 OF CHAPTER 11 OF THE CITY CODE <br />THIS REQUEST MUST LAY OVER TO THE MEETING OF APRIL 21, 1952. <br />A COMMUNICATION FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD REQUESTING CESSATION <br />OF PAYMENTS FOR THE TIME BEING ON THE AMOUNT DUE THE CITY FOR <br />COMMUNICATION RE: <br />IMPROVEMENTS ON THE LANE HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC FIELD WAS PRESENTED. <br />CSSATION OF PAYMENTS <br />CESSATION <br />E <br />FOR LANE HIGH <br />THE COMMUNICATION ADVISED THAT CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS ARE NEEDED <br />SCH.
