YOU, I BELIEVE, ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE STATUS OF <br />THE MATTER, NOW RESTING BEFORE THE OFFICIALS OF THAT <br />AUTHORITY. ;",LL OF OUR ANSWERS IlUST THEREFORE, OF NECESSITY, <br />BE MADE UPON THE ASSUMPTION THAT MATCHING FUNDS IN THE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD OF 't400,000.00 ARE APPROPRIATED BY 'THE C. RANDOLPH, ENGI-NEER, <br />GIVING THE METES AND BOUNDS DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED <br />AIRPORT. IT 1S OUR UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS PLAT HAS BEEN <br />APPROVED BY THE C. A. A. AND YOU WILL SEE THAT MONUMENTS HAVE <br />BEEN PLACED ON BOTH ENDS OF THE RESERVED STRIP AT THE POINTS <br />WHERE IT CORNERS THE PROPERTY TO BE RETAINED BY SPECIALTIES, <br />I NC. BETWEEN THESE MONUMENTS 1 S SHOWN THE COURSE AND <br />DISTANCE OF THE LINE WHICH WILL SEPARATE SPECIALTIES' <br />PROPERTY FROM THE RESERVED SECTION OF THE AIRPORT. <br />2. THE ONLY ENGINEERING PLANS WHICH WE NOW HAVE ARE <br />PRELIMINARY DRAWINGS WHICH NAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE C. A. A. <br />AND I BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE A COPY OF THESE. FINAL ENGINEER <br />ING PLANS HAVE NOT BEEN PREPARED NOR HAVE WE HAD AN <br />OPPORTUNITY TO SELECT AI, ENGINEER TO REPRESENT THE CITY AND <br />COUNTY IN THIS UNDERTAKING. YOU WILL BE INTERESTED TO KNOW, <br />HOWEVER, THAT WE HAVE ASKED FOR BIDS FROM SEVERAL RECO'.IiMENDED <br />FIRMS AND HOPE TO MAKE SOME DECISION ON THE SELECTION OF A <br />FIRM OR INDIVIDUAL ENGINEER WITHIN A REASONABLE LENGTH OF <br />TIME. OF COURSE IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THE APPROACHES TO THE <br />RUNWAY ARE TO BE -PROTECTED BY WHATEVER EASEMENTS APPEAR <br />NECESSARY FROM CAA'S RECOMMENDATIONS AND THE PRESENT PLAN <br />IS TO GRADE AN AREA 6000 FEET LONG AND 500 FEET WIDE AND TO <br />CONSTRUCT THEREON A RUNWAY 5000 FEET LONG AND 150 FEET WIDE, <br />WITH A BLACK TOP SURFACE. <br />3.
