Assoc. <br />CLAIMS AGAINST DOG FUND. <br />REQUEST TO ENLARGE <br />DISTRICT HOME <br />ORDINANCE RE: CH. 16, <br />SEC. 1 CARRIED OVER <br />REPORT RE: <br />APPROPRIATION FOR <br />IVNA <br />MR. WARNER WOOD, PRESIDENT OF THE CIVIC LEAGUE OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />AND ALBEMARLE$ APPEARED BEFORE THE COUNCIL AND STATED THAT HIS ORGANIZATION • <br />FAVORED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PARKING LOTS ALONG THE SOUTH SIDE OF MAIN <br />STREET RATHER THAN THE NORTH SIDE OF MAIN STREET SUCH AS THE PROPOSED HIGH <br />STREET PARKING LOT, DUE TO THE PROXIMITY OF HISTORIC PROPERTIES TO THE LATTER <br />SITE WORTHYOF PRESERVATION, MR. S. F. HAMM, OF THE BUSINESS MENS ASSOCIATION, <br />ALSO ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND ADVISED THAT HIS ORGANIZATION WISHED TO <br />EXPRESS ITS APPRECIATION FOR THE STEP TAKEN BY THE COUNCIL IN OBTAINING <br />LOT <br />THE PARKING LOT ON HIGH STREET AND ALSO THE PARKING /ON WATER STREET. WRITTEN <br />PETITIONS WERE ALSO RECEIVED. AFTER CONSIDERABLE DISCUSSION, IT <br />WAS <br />SUGGESTED THAT THE CIVIC <br />LEAGUE AND THE PLANNING COMMISSION MAKE <br />A STUDY OF <br />• <br />OLD BUILDINGS WORTHY OF <br />PRESERVATION AND SUBMIT TO THE COUNCIL. <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE—ENACTING CHAPTER <br />DR. S. D. STURKIE, <br />OF THE .JOINT HEALTH DEPARTMENT, APPEARED <br />BEFORE THE <br />COUNCIL AND REQUESTED AN <br />ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF $940.00 TO <br />THE ALBEMARLE <br />TERM OF MEMBERS — <br />VACANCIES• ", <br />WAS OFFERED BY MR. FORBES, SECONDED BY <br />• <br />TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION <br />FOR THE CARE OF INDIGENT TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS <br />FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE <br />CURRENT FISCAL YEAR. ON MOTION BY MR. <br />WEINBERG, <br />SECONDED BY MR. FORBES, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />THAT $940.CO OR AS MUCH THEREOF AS MAY BE NECESSARY, BE AND THE <br />SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED TO THE ALBEMARLE TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION <br />FOR THE CARE OF INDIGENT TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS FOR THE CURRENT <br />FISCAL YEAR. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THE FOLLOWING CLAIMS <br />AGAINST THE DOG FUND WERE ORDERED PAID: <br />G. F. NIMMo $ 4.40 <br />BRUCE F. LOWERY 12.00 <br />CHARLES RAUCH, .JR. _.13_60 <br />TOTAL $30.CO <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THAT THE PARTICIPATING MEMBERS OF THE <br />DISTRICT HOME, INCLUDING CHARLOTTESVILLE, HAVE LARGE WAITING LISTS FOR <br />ADMISSIONS TO THE HOME, AND IT WAS A QUESTION OF EITHER ENLARGING THE <br />HOME OR PROVIDING OTHER MEANS FOR THE CARE OF SUCH PERSON, AFTER DUE <br />DISCUSSION, IT WAS MOVED AND SECONDED, THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE INSTRUCTED TO <br />ADVISE THE DISTRICT HOME BOARD THAT THIS CITY IS INTERESTED IN PROVIDING <br />ITS PROPORTIONATE <br />COST IN ENLARGING THE DISTRICT HOME. <br />• <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />ENTITLED "AN <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE—ENACTING CHAPTER <br />16 OF THE CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE OF 19459 AS AMENDED, BY <br />AMENDING SECTION <br />1 OF CHAPTER <br />16 ENTITLED 'LIBRARY BOARD — ELECTION AND <br />TERM OF MEMBERS — <br />VACANCIES• ", <br />WAS OFFERED BY MR. FORBES, SECONDED BY <br />MR.
