LAWS GOVERNING <br />SEWERAGE, <br />SECTION I. --All connections of private drains or sew- <br />ers with the.Public Sewers of the city shall be made in <br />accordance with the plans and specifications approved <br />by the Council and City Engineer. <br />,SEC a.—If any person or firm, not acting under au- <br />thority of the City Engineer or Sewerage Committee, <br />shall uncover or connect with the public sewer, or inter- <br />fere with it or any of the parts pertaining to it, he shall <br />be fined for every such offence not less than three nor more <br />than twenty five dollars Such authority shall be granted <br />on application to the City Engineer after satisfactory ex- <br />ainination on practical scientific plumbing; application <br />to be made on blanks furnished by City l.;lerk. <br />SEC 3 —Every person or firm to whom such authority <br />or license shall be granted shall, at the time of procuring <br />same, file a bond with the Niayor (to be appy oved by the <br />Finance Committee) in the sutn of five liundred dollars, <br />with approved security conditioned to indemnify and <br />save harmless the city of Charlottesville from all dam- <br />ages arising from making connection with the public <br />s _wers. <br />SEC 4. --Permits to Connect. Applications for permits <br />to connect with the public sewers must be made in writ- <br />ing to the City Engineer by the owner or authorized <br />a;ent of the propertv to be drained, at least twenty four <br />hours before the commenceiiient of the work. Stich <br />application shall give the exact location of the prole t\, <br />the name of the owiier, and the name of the person rnl- <br />ployed to do the work. <br />SEC. 5 —Form of application.
