P- <br />496 <br />purchase -of the buildings and pens of the Albemarle Livestock <br />Market, Inc., on Douglas Avenue, in accoraance with resolution of the <br />Council adopted on January 6, 1947. <br />On motion by Mr. Tebell, seconded by Mr. Nash, the following resolution was <br />Resolution- offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration: <br />Appropriation <br />Gas Sales & <br />Service BE IT RESOLVED by trie Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />611,500.00, be and the same is hereby appropriatea to supplement the <br />budget for gas sales and service. <br />On motion the matter of additional property for a Fire douse was deferred until <br />the planning survey is completed. <br />A communication from H. D. Faulconer requesting that his contract for the <br />Faulconer construction of a dam in Sugar Hollow be extended one hunared and fifty days (150) <br />re: Dam <br />witriout penalty. On motion the City Manager was instructeu to advise irir. Faulconer <br />that the.Council is._of,the opinion that this matter should be brought up at the <br />completion of the contract. <br />On motion by Mr. Nash, seconded by Mr. Tebell, the following resolution was <br />unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />the City refuse,and it does hereby refuse, to accept aeaication of the <br />street laid out on the plat of a subdivision of lana of the Traders Land <br />Company recorded in the Clerk's Office of Albemarle County in Deed Book 146, <br />page 316, known as Spruce Street, which street $s so laic off has never <br />Spruce Street been opened or u sea in any manner, anu that the Mayor be and he is hereby <br />authorized to execute on behalf of tiie City release to Virginia Telephone <br />and Telegraph Company of all right, title ana interest of the City in and <br />to so much of Spruce Street as lies within the boundaries of the land <br />situated on Eleventh Street, N. W. which the City has heretofore agreed <br />to sell to Virginia Telephone and Telegraph Company. <br />FURTHER RESOLVED that the said Spruce Street be and the same is hereby <br />declared t -o be closed and abandoned. <br />Fire hyurants- On motion by Mr. Watson, seconued by Mr. Tebell, a petition for fire hydrants <br />Little High St. <br />on Little High Street ana Meriwether Lewis tradition was referred to the City Manager <br />for investigation anti report. <br />On motion by Mr. Watson, seconued by Mr. Tebell, the City Manager was instructed <br />C'riildrens t <br />Home to join with the County of Albemarle and the Chilarenst Home Board in acquiring a <br />site for tine new Childrens t Home. <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br />President <br />CUUNC1L GhAI,WER, YEbRUARY l7, IV, 4.7 <br />The regular meeting of tree Council which was to be held on this date was ad- <br />journed by the Mayor to 3:00 o t clock P.
