<br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present:
<br />Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Toscano. Absent: Ms. Richards.

<br />ORDINANCE: ANNUAL TAX LEVY (2na reading)
<br />
<br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO ESTBLISH THE ANNUAL TAX
<br />LEVY ONV ARiOUS CLASSES OF PROPERTY FOR THE PAYMENT OF
<br />INTEREST AND RETIREMENT OF THE CITY DEBT, FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE
<br />CITY GOVERNMENT AND CITY SCHOOLS, AND FOR OTHER PUBLIC
<br />PURPOSES," which was offered at the April 2na meeting, was approved by the following
<br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None. Absent:
<br />Ms. Richards.

<br />APPROPRIATION: ANNUAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION (2~d reading)
<br />
<br /> On motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Mr. Cox, the Annual Budget
<br />Appropriation was amended to include the following changes: $8,677 additional for
<br />Piedmont Virginia Community College (sunset); $2,273 additional for Thomas Jefferson
<br />Planning District Commission; $10,000 additional for Piedmont Housing Alliance; and
<br />$7,500 for Computers 4 Kids (sunset) by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr.
<br />Cox, Mr. Lynch. Noes: Mr. Toscano. Absent: Ms. Richards.

<br /> The "RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF
<br />CHARLOTTESVILLE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 2001, AdND
<br />ENDING JUNE 30, 2002 AND PROVIDING FOR THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION
<br />OF FUNDS FOR SUCH FISCAL YEAR," as amended, which was offered at the April
<br />2na meeting, was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr.
<br />Lynch, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None. Absent: Ms. Richards.

<br />I. ADOPTION OF BUDGET
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 15 of the City Charter and Section 15.2-2503 of
<br />the Code of Virginia, the City Manager has caused to be prepared and presented to City
<br />Council a proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2001, and ending June
<br />30, 2002; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, a synopsis of such proposed budget has been published in the Daily
<br />Progress, a newspaper of general circulation in the City, and notice duly given in ~uch"
<br />newspaper and a public hearings held thereon on March 19, 2001 and April 2, 2001, and
<br />the estimates of revenues and expenditures therein debated and adjusted by City Council
<br />in open public meetings, all as required by the City Charter and Section 15.2-2506 of the
<br />Code of Virginia; now, therefore, be it
<br />
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that such
<br />document, the statements of fiscal policy set forth therein, and the estimates of revenues
<br />and expenditures therein proposed by the City Manager and debated and adjusted by the
<br />City Council, are hereby adopted as the annual budget of the City of Charlottesville, for
<br />
