77 <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano said Council could have a policy statement that to encourage quality <br />projects we are willing to entertain assistance with infrastructure. <br /> <br />Mr. Caravati said that zordng incentives can also be explored. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said zoning modifications would be her first priority as an incentive, <br />as she is very concerned about infrastructure assistance since there would be very little <br />money to spend, though Council could possibly contribute a percentage of the <br />construction cost. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said that the small infill lots need to be look into, which could be <br />deregulated but he would want to assure that the housing would improve the overall <br />quality of the neighborhood. Mr. Cox said he would be interested in seeing how the City <br />can take a leadership role in getting ' ' · <br /> residential unitsl m the corridors. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he does not necessarily want to subsidize development, but the <br />City could stress how hot the housing market is. Mr. Lynch said he likes the boarded up <br />housing program. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja said that if Council is interested in ihe board up housing program, he <br />can bring back a report on k. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said that the University is also interested in house banking. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja asked if Council continues to be <br />Ms. Richards said she thinks that is a good program. <br /> <br /> M. Lynch said that as blocks are fixed up, w{ <br />illegal activity such as taking houses from landlords <br /> <br />erested in the block program, and <br /> <br />~ should be more aggressive with <br />who are notified of illegal activities. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati said he would like to have a rea/ting on the gains made in balancing <br />housing in the region, and would like to hear ideas ti, help against gentrification. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said she would like more information on the program which <br />facilitates recruitment of teachers with housing, but Said she knows it can be an expensive <br />program. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja said there has been a survey conducted of teachers and there will be one <br />with public safety employees about the program, tVfi Huja noted that the federal <br />program is currently frozen. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he would be interested in design assistance for rehabilitation as <br />well as new housing.
